DOOM
DOOM 4 2016 running in slow motion / low fps (20 FPS solid). Menu AND In-game
I bought DOOM as soon as it came out, and it ran great on my machine. Just recently I started experiencing an issue where the game runs at a solid 20-23 FPS in the menu and in the game. It seems as though it's running in some sort of slow frame setting as opposed to it lagging from not having fast hardware (because I do).

I have tried reinstalling drivers, reinstalling the game, changing Nvidia Control Panel settings, using Geforce Experience....all of the sort. I can't figure out how to get it out of this "mode".

If you have any suggestions at ALL, or have this issue, post on this discussion PLEASE.

Sys Specs:
-CPU: I7 6700HQ
-GPU: Nvidia 970M 6GB (Yes, I have disabled integrated CPU graphics where possible.)
-Graphics Driver Version: 384.94
-RAM: 16GB DDR4
-Drives: 1TB HDD + 256GB SSD
-Operating System: Win10 64-Bit

I'm experiencing the same problem! Now, I'm only getting 60 fps in the menu, and static problems with the audio as well. Earlier today, I was easily getting 120 fps, even in multiplayer!

Just tried to play for the first time and I'm getting all kinds of static and issues with audio as well as performance hiccups at weird points. Glad to see I'm not the only one but trying to figure out what is going on...

System specs:

CPU - i5 2500k @ 4.2ghz
GPU - GTX 970 4GB (most recent drivers)
RAM - 16GB
Drives - 525GB SSD + 1TB HDD
OS - Windows 7

Had no issues running this before but after purchasing during the last sale and trying it again I'm having issues.

I was going to ask for your hardware specs, but since you already posted them ;)

Some users have posted that rolling back their drivers to 382.53 has helped with this problem.

I just rolled back my drivers to 382.53, and no improvement in game performance.

Damn, that sucks. Your hardware looks up to spec... What resolution are you trying to run at?

Did you do a DDU wipe for the rollback, and recheck all the Optimus settings?

Also, make sure PhysX is set to run on the CPU, seems to help some problems like this.

Edit: For the hell of it, please make sure your Windows audio is set to run at 48kHz.

CONFIRMED FIX, A DDU rollback + installation of brand new drivers made my game run buttery smooth again. Thank you so much for the help Salamand3r & everyone!!!

Runs fine in Windowed mode, I bet.

SOLUTION. I had the same sounding issues. Instead of running in fullscreen mode, Doom came up as a window for some reason today. It runs at 60 fps with 'Ultra' settings. Change the setting from Fullscreen to Window.

Awesome! Glad you got it straightened out.

Figured it out just play in windowed borderless

For me, the big fix was the DDU uninstall and reinstall. The same thing happened when I tried to play Wolfenstein: A New Order after I finally got Doom to work.
