got a laptop with 1440x900 (16:10 aspect ratio) but its ten years old

anyway it's almost fullsreen and that's ok...
What's not working?
It's windwowed mode without a borders on the window but in 1440x900
Try messing with the in-game settings, or changing 'fullscreen' to 0.
Hold on, so you have a 1440x900 monitor, but that resolution isn't launching in full screen?
If the monitor is stuck on 720x480, that could be the problem. I think Doom interacts oddly with the default screen resolution, or more so than most games. I can't remember the exact setting, sorry, but if you can't fix the monitors resolution, there is an option in the Nvidia control panel which should allow the resoluton to be independent.
