Back to Open GL C:\Users<username<\Saved Games\id Software\DOOM\base\DoomConfig.local
and change r_renderAPI "1" to r_renderAPI "0"
Depends on the specific nVidia GPU as well.
But yeah, overall nVidia Vulkan support in Doom isn't mature yet.
Odd, considering they had devs working at id on optimisation and support for at least several weeks before launch, straight thru until the Vulkan patch launched.
2. It worked perfectly fine with Vulkan, I restarted the PC and it doesn't work anymore.
3. Yes I've used DDU
They typical 'I use AMD and my game doesn't work' thread.
Way to ruin everything.... -_-
BEST POST EVER - Worked like a charm !. What the general idea anyways ?
1. Find and Uninstall VulkanRT library from "Add or Remove Programs".
Do not uninstall the whole AMD display driver, just only remove the VulkanRT library.
2. Download older version of AMD Crimson driver, in my case:
Crimson Edition 16.7.3 WHQL and click install (to just extract it).
Later you will be given a display driver installation wizard, just cancel it.
3. Find VulkanRT library from where you extract it, in my case (default) it is on:
C:\AMD\Radeon-Crimson-16.7.3-Win10-64Bit\Packages\Apps\VulkanRT64\VulkanRT
4. Double click VulkanRT.exe to install it.
5. After successfull older VulkanRT install, start Doom and it will just running normally.
CMIIW, and good luck!
it is reverting back the configuration to use OpenGL rather than use the charming Vulkan
fixed.
it´s hilarious, previous to the vulkan release Nvidia ran Doom a lot better than AMD on OpeGL like usual.
then Vulkan comes out and they promote it using vids with a 1080 but when it actually comes out it´s optimized for AMD cards specifics and not Nvidias.
so Nvidia probably just paid for the buzz prior to release knowing that the end results with vulkan on their cards would have been disappointing.
way to deceive people and great marketing strategy btw. lol
If I'm not wrong, Vulkan doesn't support Cross Fire (I'm not a dev, I just heard that). Try with only a single GPU.
Vulkan does, but Doom does not.
The drivers should not be trying to use CFX. Make sure to manually disable it in the Doom profile.
Make sure to use DDU to wipe the drivers between installs. AMD (and nVidia) built in uninstaller do not work.
