DOOM 'free up 0 KB' error - SOLVED (Windows 10)
Elucidation: Yesterday I met with a problem in DOOM - whenever I reached a checkpoint the game would give me a notification saying something along the lines of 'Insufficient space, free up 0 KB.'

Solution: What I did (and I reccomend making a system restore point juuust in case.) was change the location of my 'C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games' folder. It was on my SSD and I moved it to the HDD (The same drive the game was installed on).

Here're instructions on how I did that. Take note this is on Windows 10, I don't have other systems to test it on.

1: Open File Explorer and navigate to 'C:\Users\%UserProfile%' (note that '%UserProfile%' is whatever your account is called - mine was 'C:\Users\Hiyouren'.

2: Scroll down until you find the 'Saved Games' folder, then select it.

3: Once selected, click the 'Home' tab up the top right; a whole bunch of options should show up. Click on 'Properties' and a window will appear.

4: In this new window, click the 'Location' tab and click 'Move...'; this will open yet another window and let you set a new destination for the 'Saved Games' folder. Create a new 'Saved Games' folder on the same Drive that your game is installed.

5: Select this new folder and click 'Select Folder'. That'll close the current window and you should be looking at the 'Properties' window again. Click 'OK' (or 'Apply' either is fine); you'll get a prompt asking if you want to move all files from the old location to the new - click 'Yes'.

And you're done!

Now, this is just what worked for me, this wasn't my first attempt though it's what worked. I sincerely hope it does work for everyone else, please let me know how it goes. I don't spend much time at all in these things but if you run into trouble, try and add me on steam (temporarily), and I'll see if I can help sort it out.

Aside from that I could probably make a video showing what I did, if people run into problems with my description (I tried to make it 'indepth')

Good luck!

5: Select your 'New Saved Games' folder and click 'Select Folder'. That should close the window leaving you with the 'Properties' window open. Click 'OK' or 'Apply' and a prompt should appear asking if you want to copy files to the new location, click 'Yes' -- That should be it!

This post is 3 years old now and is for DOOM 2016, if the problem is for ETERNAL then I guess I hope it works for you -- Really though I'd rather hope they'd fixed the issue in 4 years.

Thanks this helped me a lot. This is an issue with most of Bethesda games in the past couple of years.

So I did this on DOOM Eternal, I moved the Saved Games folder to my D Drive where the game is installed and it fixed the corrupt files bug that was bugging me and now it works fine but it still tells me the I need to free space, during the main campaign it went smooth but now that I am playing the DLC the file corrupt bug happens again, any idea what's up?>

I have only 1TB SDD so....

Edit: SOLVED!

Here's how I solved it. I got help from the link below
https://help.bethesda.net/app/answers/detail/a_id/42736/~/what-should-i-do-if-im-getting-the-errorinsufficient-storage-space-on-the

In the location file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DOOM
I right-clicked on DOOMx64.exe (and DOOMx64vk.exe), clicked on properties, compatibility tab and "run this app as an administrator". Voila! The problem is no more!

Hey Witty Physicist, I know this is an older post but I just have to say this also worked for me. Running the .exe files as Administrator works. Thank you
