If you play in NA, feel free to add me. We shall conquer all, for great justice.
It's actually pretty bad and been very much abandoned, there is not much online activity and seems to be a lot of people using hacks. The mechanisms is nothing more than a CoD clone when it comes to MP, with double jumping in the air etc. If you're looking for MP game that is enjoyable, this game will not reward you at all imo
Most people who are moaning about it either suck (cause you can die very quickly in a row and even after respawning) or say that people cheat.... yeah you know, id Software consists of idiots with no skills and they never thought about cheaters.... don't listen to such bad reviewers. Either they do not know how power ups work, don't care about armor thus dying quickly and having a hard time taking others down who manage their health and armor efficiently.
Most of the players never have played Doom 1 & 2, these are next gen players who do not know what "CLASSIC" even means, except for that stupid CoD ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.... forgetting all about how CoD was back then (Singleplayer!).
Multiplayer alternatives are:
Quake Champions [for free]
Unreal Tournament [for free]
This argument is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and always has been.
Original Doom MP was so widely played that there was actual commercial software made to help businesses specifically block Doom traffic on their internal networks.
It may not have been the focus of the game, but it was arguably the cornerstone of early multiplayer FPS gaming.
Almost all of the attendees at QuakeCon 1 were champion Doom players. WASD was invented by Dennis "Thresh" Fong while playing Doom MP.
Dislike the MP if you want, and dislike the expenditure on it, but don't rely on spurious facts to support your argument.
It was the same as when TitanFall was released, it was soley reliant on MP content, it was a brilliant game let down by any anti cheat and poor netcode execution. This was almost a 100% loss in resources, luckily Doom has SP to keep it fresh
