DOOM walking speed issues (PC)
I'm having this peculiar problem.

My character is walks at a snails pace. It's so slow that it's causing me to not be able to maintain distance between enemies or run away from them.

Anyone know why this could be happening and what I could do to fix it? When I play co op with my friend his character is completely fine and it's just mine that continuously moves like a slug. So it's in snapmap as well as campaign mode.

Any help will be great.

You are somehow toggling walk or crouch, or your keyboard has some mode on it that overrides how the program handles a held-down key.

Try a different keyboard.

I will plug in a spare one I have laying around and see what happens but I don't know what good that would do since I'm using a laptop anyway? I appreciate your input but I'm not sure it is the keyboard. When I use the shift key the character switches to 'walk' mode which makes it 10000x slower, like I'm barely walking at all. And I switched my crouch to the CTRL button so I know when I'm crouching or not.

I also jump extremely slowly... Like I'm on the moon. It's kind of funny but not when I want to legit play! lol

Will try another keyboard in the morning and post back with results.

It's a bug in the game that came into being on update 5 the final update. It won't be fixed doom is dead. Game won't be getting any fixes or anything.

(came back read some of the posts, I assumed you were getting the spot moments when you (player movement speed just drops too slow, everything else ;enemies, missiles etc carries on normal) that's the bug has nothing to do with you PC capabilities.

If your getting the whole game slows down then it's actually performance limits in the game because of PC capability and it's trying to compensate. A friend has a weaker PC hes fine with it says he gets to play in slow motion. So whatever.

Looking at your games. You have no real 3D intensive games.

Can we have your full PC specs. I assume you have a decent system to run Doom.

Based on what you're saying I do believe it is the bug. The world around me is fine, everything is running smoothly and there isn't any lag or suttering. I guess I'll have to just live with it because I already exceeded 2 hours trying to mess with the settings to fix it so I can't get a refund anyway...

There will be brief moments where I'll start going faster but they are ultimately short lived.. It's a pity, really.

I'll be honest- I'm not well versed in anything PC. I assumed my laptop would be fine because when I looked up the requirements, it seemed like mine would be okay?

This is the laptop I have.. if it's not good enough then oh well. Lesson learned, I guess...

Yeah that 940m is not even close to good enough for Doom. The minimum recommended is a 670. That's probably a big part of your problem. I'm assuming you have all the settings set to low at least?

Oh geeze.. Somehow I thought the 940 was better than 670 and not the other way around! I had everything on medium, switched it to low now. We'll see how it goes.

With the GTX series from Nvidia, the first number indicates the generation, and the second indicates its level of performance. so 9 means its the ninth generation, 40 means it's mid-low performance. 6 means its the 6th generation, 70 means it's mid-high performance, with the 680 being the highest for that generation(other than the 680TI). So even though 940 is obviously a bigger number, 670 is better, though a 970 is better than a 670.

Also, the laptop cards, denoted by the M after 940M, are generally worse than their desktop counterparts, so a 940 is a bit better than a 940M.

Wow, thanks!! Will definitely remember that from now on!

I also felt that the walking speed was at a snails pace. I found it barely any fun moving around so slow. Then I found out that if you increase the Field of View it increases the illusion of movement drastically!
Guys, i found the answer. turn off aim assist!

Thank you for your input on my 6 year old post, lol
It was my laptop. I had gotten a new one at the time with way better specs and the game ran fine. Ran even better on my desktop.
