FATAL ERROR: No valid monitors found.
This error message pops up nearly every time I try to open Doom and when it doesn't, a few minutes later it completely crashes my pc. This is the error code I get when the game doesn't work to begin with:

Go download DDU (Display Drivers Uninstaller) and follow it's (Recommended) instructions.

Install the latest drivers. Reboot.

What kind of monitor are you using?
EMINƎM Apr 20, 2017 @ 10:00am
A 1080p dell monitor of some kind with a dvi port

If you are using an HDMI to DVI dongle, try switching to a new one. Doom is picky about HDCP for some reason, and a link error could be an issue.

I read somewhere that if you have an Asus rx 480, which I have, then Asus only support the drivers that they put up on their website. So seen as how the up to date AMD drivers didn't work, I downloaded them. I then got a similar error message but it had this instead of no valid monitor found: FATAL ERROR: wglChoosePixelFormatARB not available. which means that my drivers are out of date

I only have one dvi cable.

Same problem "No valid monitors found" with Asus RX 480, the problem are the drivers 17.4.x, they make some problems with RX 480. Other games are affected too, Diablo 3 for example could not initialize Direct3D.

Solution: Use the older 17.2.1 (directly from AMD) and it works.

I've tried the Demo, I'll get the promotion key later from retailer (14 days delay to eliminate abuse of (german) "Fernabsatzgesetz" -> get keys and send graphic card back).

I have the same problem. How do I roll back to older Radeon versions. I have version 17.4.3 atm.
Simply unistall and install from AMD?

The way I fixed it was by using a different monitor which used HDMI instead of dvi, Doom still crashses for me but I think that's down to my GPU.

And if you want to select new drivers to install you'll probably have to use ddu to completely uninstall all the drivers then download the specific drivers you want from AMD.

That is most likely a cable/link problem.

ok you are right. I tried it with a HDMI instead of DVI and it worked. Thanks a lot.

Now I just need to figure out why all the fonts/writing is really blurry and causing me some headaches.

I am switching HDMI and DVI for now. But I least I can play Doom with HDMI and everything else with DVI :)

You're welcome and the blurryness could be from the ingame display setting being wrong: like 720p instead of 1080p or the wrong aspect ratio
