DOOM
Game Suddenly Stopped Recognizing Thumb Mouse Buttons [SOLVED]
Hey all, decided to boot DOOM up for the first time in a month-and-a-half or so and discovered that the game stopped recognizing the two thumb buttons on my M65 Corsair mouse. They're still bound in the keybinding settings, but I can't rebind them. The game simply doesn't respond to them at all. MB1, MB2, MMB, scroll wheel, and mouse look all work fine, it's just the extra buttons. They work in every other game and even Windows itself. Any ideas?

SOLUTION:

Hey everyone, I think I found a permanent solution! What worked for me was this:

>Device Manager
>Mice and other pointing devices

For me here I had three "HID-compliant mouse" listed. I uninstalled the top two (disabling them might work as well) and left the third one alone. That worked for me, now all my games recognize my thumb mouse buttons instead of only certain ones not recognizing them! If you accidentally uninstall all of them (or if your mouse stops working) fear not, just unplug your mouse and plug it back in and it should be immediately recognized again. Hope this works for others too!

I heard it could be because of Windows 10 Creators update. Other games have apparently the same issue. Google yields a lot of results, I originally found out about it on the Warframe forums, a detailed developer topic on the subject.

I suspected this may have something to do with it, but every other game and even Windows itself recognizes the buttons just fine after the Creator's update. It's just DOOM that's giving me trouble. Would you happen to have a link to that discussion?

Yea I just recently made a topic about this. It's not just you fam or your mouse. I have a Logitech and having the same problem. There are also several gamepad issues as well, like the d-pad not swapping weapons and the right stick no longer able to rotate the map.

Hopefully id will send out some patches.

Incidentally, if anyone knows where to send bug reports I would appreciate a link.

the best way to get the buttons to respond again, is to reasign mb4 n mb5 to a key command rather then a mouse command. use E for mb4 n F for mb5. this work around helped 2 friends not more the 3 weeks ago when they to had the same problem

Thanks for the replies all, and thanks for the link to the Warframe discussion, Nathan. I actually hadn't seen the recent topic made by Fenix Funk, for some reason I couldn't find it in my searches, so I'd like to apologize for double posting! Sorry! Not sure where to send bug reports, but I'll probably be looking for that too. As Thumper said, I could manually reassign my mouse buttons, but I prefer not to do this. I never downloaded the customizable mouse software for my mouse because I just don't feel like getting engrossed in tinkering with the damn thing, and before this every game recognized them just fine (and they all still do, except DOOM of course). So I guess I'll just be waiting for a patch on this one.
