Hans capon never returns after hunt.

So twice I went on the hunt with Capon for main quest, and at noon, after returning to hunting camp, he never shows up. It simply says "wait for him" and I do.... for days actually. I sleep, eat, wait, and nothing happens. On my third try, I decide to babsit him to see if the rabbits are killing him on the hunt and he goes out with dogs hunt as normal, and when the "return to camp" objective appears at noon, he freezes and stands on the spot. he is not interactable except to pickpocket him which he does not respond to when he catches you. He just stands there. No progress on main quest is possible....

I had the same problem, so I got the three hares I needed to win the hunt, then went back to the campsite (before it was noon) and did a time lapse to 5pm (17:00), and he appeared.

on this issue now, wondering if i should send assassin to my friends house for gifting me this game

I know this thread is REALLY old.. but it just happened to me. But I went out looking for him, and after I was far enough away from the camp, it seemed to fix itself and I was able to progress.
