Scavenger Quest "bug"
Technically, the quest can be completed, but I would argue - it is a bug as to how it "completes" and erases the Quest from your list of active quests. Bear with me --

- After sneaking into Skalitz and successfully digging up the treasure, the quest ended right there. Why? You should still have an active quest with the husband and wife as A/B options to return the goblet (and coin) to back in Rattay.

I consider that a bug. Quest completion would include a full return. If a player chooses to sell the item in the store, then that would "complete" the quest also and the cup disappears, perhaps.

What this implies, is that players by default will keep what they found and not help a (former) neighbor out. It becomes a "by chance" to return the assets, especially given all the other stuff/quests that can bog you down in the beginning.

The quest is a 'payment' from Kunesh to you.
Learning about the ownership of the items and choosing to return them is absolutely optional.

I always take that option, but you have this quest from Kunesh, not from the real owners. You are often given silly instructions, are lied to in your instructions or only given part of the picture. It is up to you to figure out what to do in these cases.

That is not accurate. The start point of the quest varies. You can start the quest by talking to Beran in Rattay, without any interaction with Kunesh in Rattay. And if you do this first, and then later speak to Kunesh in Rattay, Kunesh attempts to give this information as his payment, but you can refuse it. The treasure is Beran's, right? So, consider --

A new-to-game player who speaks to Beran first, sees this as a kind gesture to give back to a fellow Skalitz neighbor who wasn't such a drunken mess. When you talk to Beran first, and start the quest wih Beran, there is a different outcome, and - Beran can optionally be told that Kunesh tried to give the quest to you (results in more Rep gained plus a cut of the coin you found). Kunesh's start point states that he/Kunesh overheard the information while fleeing Skalitz. Doesn't mean it is primarily Kunesh's quest.

Helping Beran's family is my point, and why the quest should end with them, not just be a run-and-grab as a substitute for Kunesh's payment. Even with Kunesh starting the quest, a player should get the option to end with Beran (or his wife).
