All that glitters - Fresco Master BUG

Hi guys
I 'm at the part where I have to talk to the fresco master but when he sees me he starts running away (I tried to pickpocket him before the quest and he caught me) and even if I go near him before that I cant talk to him.
What am I supposed to do now to get to the next level of that quest?
Please some1 help me.
