The Horse that Bolted (Side Quest - Possible minor spoiler)

After i find the horse, i bring it to the stables, i dismount to search for the head groom to give him back the horse... when i go back to where i dismounted the horse, there is no horse! But my horse (pebble) just appears in its place.... now i have the deliver the horse to the stable part of the quest... but i can't find Pie!
