What you're supposed to do is to look at the three passages and select the one that is most like Latin (move the cursor up and down with the direction arrows on your keyboard and hit enter).
Sometimes one of the three passages will be a reasonable facsimile of Latin, but sometimes all three will be gibberish and only look a little like Latin (and when that happens you can expect Brother Cyril to tell you that you're an illiterate git).
It looks like something isn't loading. Perhaps you don't have enough RAM, or your video card doesn't have enough memory? Another possibility is that you need to fiddle with some of your Advanced Graphics settings (one of the Guides lists how much stress each setting puts on your system -- you need to fiddle with that).
I'm not computer literate, but I don't think this is a bug.
I know what's supossed to look like, when this happened, I searched online and saw how that page should be. I normally try to do things without walktroughs, but in this case I had to, otherwise it'd be impossible to get it right (you could actually read what was written, it was just a "bad font")
Although I can't run this game on ultra, most of the graphic options are high, and I never had this problem in any part of the game, incluiding reading other books.
I even tried top reload the save, change the order of some things I did, but nothing worked. It was like the page was always like that.
I honestly don't know what may have caused this, but considering the bugs that this game still have is no surprise.
Don't get me wrong, I love this game, but it still have a lot of problems the devs need to fix. And I sure hope they do, since more then a few times I read that people stopped playing because of the bugs, and this game deserves more praise for how much they did with it.
