It’s a feature of this gsme. Or do you mean in real life? Do we have to explain reality to you if you don’t know the latter question??

Yes, but only if you're playing the normal mode, not hardcore.

Yes. Use the Map.
To fast travel to a location open the map and simply press the action key on the destination you want to visit.
However, this will only work if you have visited the location previously and it has to be a specific fast travel point within the urban area you want to visit, so you’ll need to have explored that area first and uncovered its fast travel location.
So you watch yourself travel quickly across the map.
But you should be aware of the pitfalls using it.

I would not recommend fast traveling, if there are ambushes on the path or road, you will be taken out of fast travel, enemies engage, and you will get pulled from your horse.

Traveling normally you can look ahead and likely see the ambush, avoid it if you like, or attack on your own terms.

Besides, the map really isn't that big, it is beautifully created with details just waiting for you to find if you take less traveled paths. Just advice from KCD vet.

Might be just me but you're more likely to encounter events and ambushes on fast travel then traveling on horse or foot. It could be a way to try and increase your chances of getting one I suppose.

traveling isnt that bad considering how immersive the game is...just ride that horse for a few minute, take a breather, chill out

I wouldn't use it. Once I got ambushed I stopped using it. What I do now is travel in real time. If I spot them off in the distance I'll stop, and ambush them (if they don't have a dog). Dogs can be a real pain to deal with.

Don't use the feature, it gets in the way of really experiencing what the game offers.

If in normal mode, use the "scout" perks to increase the chances of evading ambushes, as well as mass producing saviour schnapps so you can save beforehand. If in hardcore mode, get either the Pegasus horse or Warhorse Jenda, and get the best horseshoes. You'll waste alot less time riding that way.
