Crossbows no.

bows are fun to use with simple mechanics that make them more difficult to use in the beginning becuz the main character is less skilled, and they scale well as the game progresses.

unfortunately (?) they do become quite OP mid game.

Actually it is a bit funny how an NPC comments about crossbows in the beginning of the game.

bit wierd since i thought crossbow usage was more common than bow usage and is better balanced on top of that due to a slow reload.

Maybe an area thing? Don't know if Bohemia at this specific time was using crossbows - even if other nations were crossbow dominant

''Crossbows are not mentioned in European sources again until 947 as a French weapon during the siege of Senlis.[5] From the 11th century onward, crossbows and crossbowmen occupied a position of high status in medieval European militaries, with the exception of the English and their continued use of the longbow. During the 16th century military crossbows in Europe were superseded by gunpowder weaponry such as cannons and muskets. Hunters continued to carry crossbows for another 150 years due to its silence.''

(wikipedia i know not a super reliable source but it's the best i could do)

The French and the Italians - especially the renowned Genoese crossbowmen and Pavise Crossbowmen

They mention black powder during the seige of talmberg quest when the engineer starts talking to the nnobles about the new seige technology.
Razig (Or Divish) replies "sadly we dont have black powder in the region"
So, might be the same for the crossbow?

Hussites did use crossbows though so did the germans i see no reason why there would be no crossbows from a historical perspective however this is starting to turn into a different thread altogether i doubt they would add crossbows now.

Crossbows really aren't that silent though. They make a sharp loud clap noise.

i think the "silent" was for comparison to gun powder weaponry.

The devs wanted crossbows but weren't able to make them work. That's the only reason they're not in game.
