Best way to aquire savior schnapps
Hi. New player here. So I'm only about 14 or so hours in and I've already gone through all the savior schnapps that i started with. I noticed that i can get more in stores, but they are crazy expensive (for some reason). Anyway are there any other ways to get more savior schnapps aside from just having to buy them? Just wondering.

ur options are buy it, steal it, or make it (alchemy crafting).

u already have the recipe in ur alchemy book, but Henry can't read... so, u can learn to read (ask around). or just find the recipe online and have Henry make it.

Schnapps is not the only way to force a save - you can also sleep or "save & quit".

For me, i installed an unlimited save mod:

I was aware of the other ways to save. However saving via sleeping isn't always feasible. Thanks for the info though, as well as the mod link.

Use save and quit until you get to Rattay and can craft it. Ideally you would have been supplementing your schnapps saves with save and quit from the beginning so you could ration them out.

There is an entire field of Savior Schnapps ingredients between Ratay and Nuehof. Herbs respawn, so once you know where that field is you have unlimited save potions for the rest of your playthrough. At that point you can also sell some of the ones you make for decent early game money.

You can look up the recipe online, or you can probably muddle through the pig latin well enough to get viable potions after a few attempts since the recipe is fairly simple. You can try getting Henry to learn to read before this, but learning to read as a new player with no more save potions and no horse to get you there is probably a bit much to ask.

Make some Marigold Decoctions to heal your injuries (and sell) as well, those have an even simpler recipe.

Actually there is no need for saves at all (apart from securing when you call it a day and quit the game). At least not in the first 50 hours or so. There is no combat and no need to take risks.

yeh - i figured u might know, but i was typing through my rage (ha ha) and trying to seem neutral. i strongly dislike the limited save system - bad design decision imo

and i'm glad to provide the link, just beware of out-of-date and sloppy mods for kcd

I was also struggling with this until I discovered alchemy. The Ingredients are super easy to find or cheap to buy. 5 Minutes of making saviour schnaps and you are good to go for quite some time.

Playing on hardcore you barely ever have enough money until late in the game.

The save management is a huge part of the charme for me. You approach the game differently and everythings is more intense. Especially thieving is a thrill when you can not save in front of every lock. Crashing or unexpected deaths can be a pain in the ass though.

I would say until you get a horse, but no spoilers!

Saving before every lock sounds a bit much but I certainly save before entering every house.

I had the opposite experience, there actually isn't a whole lot to spend money on if you use alternative methods to getting gear. And even then the gear is a one time purchase. I think the only expensive thing I bought on my current playthrough is my horse and a few repairs and high level trainings. Money became meaningless to me pretty early on and my main expenditure is dried meat for dog food and the ten Grochen for baths.

No combat the first 50 hours. What are you doing? Picking herbs

U will need 1 nettle and 2 belladonnas. Find any alchemy table and start alchemy. Open your recipe book to the right. As u don't have learned any other recipe yet, u can hold the key for Prepare, Put wine in the cauldron, followed by 1 nettle. Put 2 belladonnas into the mortar and grind it. Fill the grinded belladonnas into the cauldron. Trigger Bellows three times. Wait till the bubbles are gone. Use a phial on the cauldron. Don't use the still. With skill 3 u should get 3 potions per trial already
Or check Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZInG91VwvI

I thought I needed that save anytime mod in my first run. But now after beating the main story once, I realized it's not really that dire. Whenever I'm about to do something with any kind of risk, I just take a nap in a bed. Be it at the mill or for 2 Groschen at an inn. There are even some camps with tents you can sleep at. You really can just save up your savior schnapps for when you really need them and cannot afford to sleep like a timed mission or sneaking into a place. Not to mention a lot of saves happen for free during quests, especially main story ones. Then eventually you could just buy, steal, craft more if you need it.
