Yes it was, every effing mission was 5-10 minutes of watching people's backs as they talked about the ole days, followed by like a 2-3 minute action sequence and finished with riding all the way back to camp again. KC:D wastes your time in a different way though, which is that a preponderance of the quests in the game involve fetching or searching. RDR 2 is basically, "listen to our characters bro" and KC:D is basically, "look at these shrubs bro."
Jesus, why can't those be cutscenes again, I hate Valve/new age "walking cutscenes", man, immershun my arse.
Maybe if you're using a short sword with light armor or something, but if you're using a man's weapon like a mace then it still takes 8 or 9 hours to complete a swing even if your warfare is maxed out and you have Artemisia going.
Nah the game is slow lmao. Compared to most rpg games.
But slow isnt bad.
Regarding the fight with Kunesh, indeed I did not expect to be nerfed so bad I was fighting the controller as new Henry, but I got it done. However everything AROUND the actual fighting was movie quality acting and writing. I loved when Kunesh was ragging Henry out and swearing. So good and motivates the punching lol.
All of the missions have been like that for me. The voice acting, the story, the graphics. Total Sunday evening Dad content.
This is a Dad game. It is slow because the time was slow. Everybody even moves slowly. It makes you really notice when weapons start swinging fast.
Although Henry has his story, inside he is hollow, and we get to fill that up with our choices for him.
The game is meant to be savored. You are meant to drink in the landscape and the ten year old in you to get that old excited feeling when seeing a castle or awesome armor set. It really is not about finishing it even. The whole point is to be in medieval Europe as much as possible. I'll tell you I had very little idea about the actual life of peasants before this game but now I feel like I have had a university level immersion course in it. I mean Charcoal burners? just awesome stuff.
Add to that these are real places. Seeing photos of the locations today and recognizing the structures from the game like I have been there is a history dad's dream.
Another poster said come back when you are slower - more mature - and that has a ring of truth. As an older guy in 2024 I really appreciate a game where I can slow down and live this other slower but still incredible life that, and this really hits the Dad historian, someone VERY likely lived a very similar one.
It is OK not to like it. Just trying to give some perspective as to why it is slow.
Hell no!
You know my friend, this game might just not be for you, and that is ok.
I am the guy who geeked out on Skyrim's actual weather patterns. Exploring as much as the landscape as possible.
In THIS game the landscape is the most "place" like I have experienced. BG3, dragon's Dogma, Skyrim, these are amazing worlds, but fantasy. KCD's world is a loving re-creation of a real place and time. Just one of the things that make it special. More remarkable considering this is a five year old game.
the next closest is RDR2.
When you are wandering in these places and you just get that feeling like "I am actually here." Usually lasts just a bit before brain goes "video game dumbass," but that is what gets me going.
