Is it me or we getting a lot of impatient or low attention span people?
I love when it rains. WTF? Its super chill and immersive.
I didn't insult anyone, and I actually agreed that the dialogue pauses (as well as the fading in and out) are clunky and awkward. So, I definitely don't adhere to any "all or nothing" mentality here. Also, I have ADHD myself. Perhaps you were referring to someone else with those comments, but I felt the need to clarify this.
Not everyone here is crazy.
And for the people talking about immersion, that becomes mutt at the moment you are forced to play as a pre-made character. We are not playing as a badass Geralt of Rivia. Henry is just boring.
Just to be clear, I'm the one that gave you the wholesome reward and only looking back on it do I see how confrontational I was. Apologies for that.
And making economy harder. I love the immersion of this game
Also, I honestly find it baffling that you think Geralt is a more interesting character than Henry. Geralt is by definition a Mary Sue. He literally has no flaws or weaknesses. Don't get me wrong, The Witcher is a great series and all, but let's not get silly. Geralt, as a character, is arguably the most boring thing about the Witcher universe.
I agree that KCD fans can get defensive about pretty annoying gameplay feature. Farkle with luck manipulation breaks the point of playing dices, alcohol and drunkness serve no real purpose, haggling is cool at first but gets repetitive, and so on.
But please, no one said that the inventory being a mess was immersive, and not a single fan claimed that the unbearably slow waiting feature was a brilliant aspect of the game that make it realistic. All these issues have absolutely nothing to do with immersion, anyone who liked KCD hopes the sequel will fix these kind of issues.
And It's not "like it or leave". There are mods that change some features, some people want to make it easier, other want it harder. No one is gamekeeping KCD or saying it should be "all or nothing".
About that "kid with ADHD", really it's nothing serious. These kind of people are being made fun of because of their expectations and manners. Seriously there are so many valid flaws to point out about KCD, but getting mad about a medieval sim RPG being generally slow is like complaining about Animal Crossing lacking action.
The comparison to RDR2 pacing occurred to me as well, really lets you get drawn in to all the details of the game.
As for OP and others, don’t know what to say, it’s a dev game design choice made over a decade ago on a game published almost six years ago, not likely to change in the near future.
I guess it does come down to endure it, mod it, or move on.
Heh - I think the rain is so well done, especially the thunder and lightning storms. The most immersive afternoon in gaming ever was sitting at the tavern in Ledetchko near the fence separating the tavern from the bawdy house nextdoor. Drinking, playing farkle, listening to the hilarious conversations next door thru my headphones, all while looking at the lightning strikes to the sough east over Rattay. It was special. No other game has ever given me such a 'you are there' vibe.
