The real problem with this game is that everything is so slow
Everything and I really mean EVERYTHING. The combat, the dialogue, the clunky inventory, etc. Doing any kind of activity in this game is so sloooow. Hell, even moving the cursor to use the map is slow. Speeding up time and sleeping is so slow. The only thing that isn't slow in this game is how fast it is to become BORING.

I don't give a damn about immersion, I just care about the fun and I don't think the game is slow.

Is it me or we getting a lot of impatient or low attention span people?

good immersion, but this type of immersion isn't enjoyed by everyone.

for me, it is always the rain that i hate - why do devs force us to game in the rain ???

at least give me an "off" switch ?

I love when it rains. WTF? Its super chill and immersive.

The example was just an example. I myself have found that it's not really about the thing you do, but the mentality that makes the experience better. Obviously, waiting outside the store for it to open and sleeping at the inn are practically the same things, but they don't feel the same in experience. I find that waking up in game, washing my face, feeding Mutt, getting breakfast, then going to the store is a lot more fun to do, because it primes me to role-play better.

I didn't insult anyone, and I actually agreed that the dialogue pauses (as well as the fading in and out) are clunky and awkward. So, I definitely don't adhere to any "all or nothing" mentality here. Also, I have ADHD myself. Perhaps you were referring to someone else with those comments, but I felt the need to clarify this.

Not everyone here is crazy.

Ultimately, if the combat were more fun, this game's other grievances would be more passable. Unfortunately, the combat is this game weakest aspect. I just started playing Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning and the combat in that game is so fun I wish I could play are classes at once.

And for the people talking about immersion, that becomes mutt at the moment you are forced to play as a pre-made character. We are not playing as a badass Geralt of Rivia. Henry is just boring.

I have a tendency to jumble a direct reply together with generalized statements.

Just to be clear, I'm the one that gave you the wholesome reward and only looking back on it do I see how confrontational I was. Apologies for that.

My favorite game of all time is morrowind, so this game is right up my ally. I even slow use hardcore with all debuffs, and have a 35 to 50% average reduction on exp gains. So up to 70% reduced exp.
And making economy harder. I love the immersion of this game

Role-playing doesn't mean doing whatever you want. That's the opposite of role-playing. Role-playing means playing a specific role. Henry is that role. You play the role of Henry.

Also, I honestly find it baffling that you think Geralt is a more interesting character than Henry. Geralt is by definition a Mary Sue. He literally has no flaws or weaknesses. Don't get me wrong, The Witcher is a great series and all, but let's not get silly. Geralt, as a character, is arguably the most boring thing about the Witcher universe.

It's just unfortunate how inconvenient and annoying some of the immersive features end up being, and it's even more unfortunate that so many fans adhere to the "like it or leave" and "all or nothing" mentalities. As if KCD 2 would be hurt by streamlined dialogue, inventory management, and time compression: because we all love that final-hour lag spike, or whatever.

I'm sure it's not just forum posters being typical forum posters, and trawling for an excuse to kick a dog. Like pointing and laughing at a kid with ADHD is somehow righteous because the kid first insulted a game.

I agree that KCD fans can get defensive about pretty annoying gameplay feature. Farkle with luck manipulation breaks the point of playing dices, alcohol and drunkness serve no real purpose, haggling is cool at first but gets repetitive, and so on.

But please, no one said that the inventory being a mess was immersive, and not a single fan claimed that the unbearably slow waiting feature was a brilliant aspect of the game that make it realistic. All these issues have absolutely nothing to do with immersion, anyone who liked KCD hopes the sequel will fix these kind of issues.
And It's not "like it or leave". There are mods that change some features, some people want to make it easier, other want it harder. No one is gamekeeping KCD or saying it should be "all or nothing".

About that "kid with ADHD", really it's nothing serious. These kind of people are being made fun of because of their expectations and manners. Seriously there are so many valid flaws to point out about KCD, but getting mad about a medieval sim RPG being generally slow is like complaining about Animal Crossing lacking action.

I agree that the pauses between dialogue are a bit clunky, but I disagree about everything else. This game is very similar to RDR 2 in that regard. It's supposed to be slow. It's a slow-paced immersive game. Try to embrace it instead of fighting against it.

For example, I have noticed a lot of people treat this game like Skyrim and stand outside stores waiting for 11 hours. Instead, go to the local inn, play some dice, drink some beer, read a book, rent a room, sleep, and come back tomorrow. It'll make your experience much more fulfilling and fun.

The comparison to RDR2 pacing occurred to me as well, really lets you get drawn in to all the details of the game.

As for OP and others, don’t know what to say, it’s a dev game design choice made over a decade ago on a game published almost six years ago, not likely to change in the near future.

I guess it does come down to endure it, mod it, or move on.

Heh - I think the rain is so well done, especially the thunder and lightning storms. The most immersive afternoon in gaming ever was sitting at the tavern in Ledetchko near the fence separating the tavern from the bawdy house nextdoor. Drinking, playing farkle, listening to the hilarious conversations next door thru my headphones, all while looking at the lightning strikes to the sough east over Rattay. It was special. No other game has ever given me such a 'you are there' vibe.

I agree. I already tried three times, but always in the fight with the guy who owes money, there is something that makes me stop playing and quit. I don't know if it's the slowness of the combat or the entire interaction system, I recognize that there is notable programming and design work behind it, but, as with RDR2, as a game comes closer to emulating real life, it becomes imbued with the things that aren't fun and that make us play video games in the first place. They call it immersion these days, I call it...slowness, limitation...I don't know. I always wanted a game where what I looked like mattered, where NPCs reacted to things like blood spatter or a drawn weapon. In my imagination it sounded wonderful, but after playing something similar, the truth is that it is complicated and boring. I'm glad that this game exists as an option and alternative to more popular and, in design, simpler things (like Skyrim) and that there are many people who love it, but I leave this comment as testimony that there are a few of us who don't like it. Just to preserve our right to express ourselves. Haha.

In the beginning, Henry's movements are sluggish and slow because he is inexperienced. Once his Warfare skill is maxed out, he is quite fast.

Please keep the combat the same as the first one.
