This Game is Annoying as Hell
I'm here to bellyache for a moment. I'm in Uzhitz doing the main quest. Spoilers below.

I spent the last real world hour dicing at the tavern waiting for the priest to show up in the evening. I won a good amount in Farkle and lost a fair bit too but I had a mostly good time. I may have manually saved before I started in case things got grim.

Anyway, I talked to the priest in the tavern, agreed to drink with him and got into the stupid brawl with the bailiff. Everything was going fine in the fight, when a damn NPC not part of the combat WANDERED INTO THE BRAWL. I accidentally punched him, immediately failed the quest and was arrested, and come to find out that the game was not so gracious to give me an autosave before the fight started.

Absolutely asinine that my game could be derailed so easily by something outside of my control and the developers could be so up their own arse that they'd never considered the possibility. Now, if I want to see the quest as it was written, which is why I'm playing, I have to restore my manual save from over an hour ago and either do it all over again or skip through it, which sucks so hard that I'd rather come here and scream into a virtual pillow.

Yes, I will be downloading the mod for free saves or else never launching this again.

I'm frustrated and baffled, not truly angry. It's a good game, but every couple hours I experience something that I truly hate about it.

If you really so low on cash why not just brew your own savior schanps? Its 2 nettle and 1 belladonna

Oh wow, that does sound pretty frustrating. The quest is really good and I hope you can enjoy the later part of it.

I've lost an hour or two of progress before and started brewing savior schnapps so I could save to my hearts content.

This game can be pretty jank but the high points are pretty high. don't blame you for installing a mod.
yeah this game has alot of "f.. this crap" moments. im struggeling to finish it cos everytime i get some momentum in the playing and strating to enjoy it, some quest bugs out or something strange happens and i have to load old save to try again and again to get it to work. its kinda demotivating and immersion breaking, not to mention tedious.

its better than when i tried to play at release, didnt even get halfway then, but still lots of things that should have been fixed or improved by now.

I appreciate the recommendation. I actually am not low on cash, I'm just a type A consumable hoarder!

Thank you for understanding. It really helps to have some people to vent to, who get it. And that's exactly what I need to hear to keep going too! Lol

I understand completely. I was so bad at the game at release that I never made it out of Talmberg. Hard to commit to a thing you just feel really bad at all the time. I'm doing better this time around, giving it a fair shake. I am going to be using the mod though, assuming it installs smoothly and all that.

If a player can easily get more of a thing than they'll ever need, then I think it too tedious to bother worrying about it. Give me my spastic saves! I'm going to save after every cutscene!
I once helped Hans Capon to get him some extra time during his "visitation" and in the end I had to fish fight 3 guys, well I punched one so he started to fall down but my second punch killed him and everything went FUBAR!

I'm not a fan of fistfights because of that.

I don't know the part that you're talking about, but that sounds about right. Pretty fun story though if the game could properly address it!

The Amorous Adventures of Bold Sir Hans Capon DLC

On the bright side I've got an Achievement I never expected to be there.
It took me seven times to get to the next location without bleeding to death, or my horse crazily running into rivers and enemies. Then , i had to sell enough stuff to buy lockpicks, so i can get out of there and bury my parents. But, i broke them all, and have no money, so game over I guess? The silver lining is I only spent 7 bucks on it .

Kids these days... Use your imagination more, you don't need lockpics to get out, there are tons of methods to do it, you can convince guard to let you out, just yeet from bridge into fields and run, try to steal something and they will just kick you out... and it is like that with every quest.. you can do it in multiple ways, if something "fails" don't reload old save, roll with it, that's why save system is as it is
Accidentally hitting people can happen and that's not how the whole quest is supposed to play out.
So, pick up your save and do it again - you'd miss out on one of the greatest moments in gaming history otherwise

This^

My first play through, I got all the way to the bandit / Cuman camp, and stopped playing. I started again, and have been having the time of my life, cause I spent hours levelling up skills and other stats before even leaving Skallitz.

Coupled with the armour I got from the tournament, and a polearm I looted, and nothing hurts me now. It's almost too easy. And I never run out of potions even though I have to purchase them or brew them myself.

Also, pro-tip. If you ARE out of potions, but need to save at a key location... save and quit. When you load, you'll start from that point, and if you quit without saving, and then continue, you'll reload at that point. Takes a few moments longer, but is a single, potion free save point.

I have a few tips for you! I was super frustrated with that horse chase sequence, but that was because I was operating on like... Red Dead Redemption logic of the road doing all the work and I just had to stay on it as efficiently as possible.

If you have your horse jump or run across streams, break line of sight with the buildings, and take other seemingly risky moves, you can lose your followers pretty reliably! They get stuck on terrain (Same as you do) but struggle more to correct from what I experienced. It actually was a pretty fun sequence once I figured that out.

Also, you can totally just jump into the moat between the upper and lower parts of the town. It's shallow enough that you won't hurt yourself, though you will almost definitely be witnessed doing so and 'pursued.' Something I really liked happened to me as I made my escape. This game can be very charming!

I've since downloaded the unlimited saves mod and I've been having a much better time again. I really want to be able to freely make mistakes and experiment. I'm not concerned with the "it may be fun to work through your failures" aspect just now, as my not fully understanding the mechanics can put me in paralysis.

Yes, I did go back and redo it a few hours later, and I was ready for the dumb NPCs wandering through the fight. Had to restrain myself to let them pass, but I did fully and thoroughly enjoy the scenes and following interactions with Father Goodwin!
