I've lost an hour or two of progress before and started brewing savior schnapps so I could save to my hearts content.
This game can be pretty jank but the high points are pretty high. don't blame you for installing a mod.
its better than when i tried to play at release, didnt even get halfway then, but still lots of things that should have been fixed or improved by now.
I appreciate the recommendation. I actually am not low on cash, I'm just a type A consumable hoarder!
Thank you for understanding. It really helps to have some people to vent to, who get it. And that's exactly what I need to hear to keep going too! Lol
I understand completely. I was so bad at the game at release that I never made it out of Talmberg. Hard to commit to a thing you just feel really bad at all the time. I'm doing better this time around, giving it a fair shake. I am going to be using the mod though, assuming it installs smoothly and all that.
If a player can easily get more of a thing than they'll ever need, then I think it too tedious to bother worrying about it. Give me my spastic saves! I'm going to save after every cutscene!
I'm not a fan of fistfights because of that.
I don't know the part that you're talking about, but that sounds about right. Pretty fun story though if the game could properly address it!
On the bright side I've got an Achievement I never expected to be there.
So, pick up your save and do it again - you'd miss out on one of the greatest moments in gaming history otherwise
This^
My first play through, I got all the way to the bandit / Cuman camp, and stopped playing. I started again, and have been having the time of my life, cause I spent hours levelling up skills and other stats before even leaving Skallitz.
Coupled with the armour I got from the tournament, and a polearm I looted, and nothing hurts me now. It's almost too easy. And I never run out of potions even though I have to purchase them or brew them myself.
Also, pro-tip. If you ARE out of potions, but need to save at a key location... save and quit. When you load, you'll start from that point, and if you quit without saving, and then continue, you'll reload at that point. Takes a few moments longer, but is a single, potion free save point.
I have a few tips for you! I was super frustrated with that horse chase sequence, but that was because I was operating on like... Red Dead Redemption logic of the road doing all the work and I just had to stay on it as efficiently as possible.
If you have your horse jump or run across streams, break line of sight with the buildings, and take other seemingly risky moves, you can lose your followers pretty reliably! They get stuck on terrain (Same as you do) but struggle more to correct from what I experienced. It actually was a pretty fun sequence once I figured that out.
Also, you can totally just jump into the moat between the upper and lower parts of the town. It's shallow enough that you won't hurt yourself, though you will almost definitely be witnessed doing so and 'pursued.' Something I really liked happened to me as I made my escape. This game can be very charming!
I've since downloaded the unlimited saves mod and I've been having a much better time again. I really want to be able to freely make mistakes and experiment. I'm not concerned with the "it may be fun to work through your failures" aspect just now, as my not fully understanding the mechanics can put me in paralysis.
