Game not Launching

Trying to run the game for the first time. Wanted to play this before KCD2. At this point just considering refunding and watching recap videos before playing 2 instead. When trying to launch the game, launcher pops up fine. Then I get black screen and then game crashes and I get kicked back to the desktop.

Below are the specs for my gaming laptop:
CPU: Intel Core i5 13420H
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU
RAM: 2x 16GB Samsung DDR5-5600 RAM
OS: Windows 11 Home


I have tried the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Restarted my computer
2. Verified game integrity files
3. Reinstalled DirectX11 and C++ Redistributable 2015-2022
4. Verified drivers were up to date
5. Enabled compatibility mode on the KingdomCome.exe file to both Windows 8 and Windows 7

Still same results for all. Any assistance would be appreciated. Will also be sending an email to the Warhorse support email.

could look at the log files in the steam game folder - kcd.log and kcd_launcher.log
might tell you what is wrong

windows comes with default security settings. neither steam nor the game installer nor the game make any changes nor bypass whatever antivirus, security settings, folder permissions, running programs you have on your system. up to YOU to manage all that for this game and any other game/app you install.

game launcher needs to create folder
c:\users\yourWindowsLogin\Saved Games\kingdomcome
folder should contain folders profiles saves shaders
after game launcher runs and you set your graphics settings
the profiles\default folder should have three .xml files with your graphics settings

if these files are missing

check antivirus log? might be blocking game/game launcher.

check windows security/controlled folder access.
if on add exceptions for game launcher/game.

check windows event viewer and also windows reliability history.
might be a game crash event or system related problems.

which steam/game installer should have installed
if missing, download from MS or access the files in your steamworks shared folder
and install with admin permission

and if you are technically inclined, run the game from within "windbg".
hopefully when it crashes a useful error msg will show up.
