It’s been free on Epic several times around 😂
Literally, it is now the perfect time to put in in a discount

I think I picked it up for around 10 bucks a couple of months ago( Im not sure because I purchased like 4 or 5 games on sale during that time).
It was a steal.
Its very much worth 30$. Most people can spend 30$ at on Starbucks in a week. Its all about how you look at things.
$30 is a lot of money to spend on a 7-year-old game, especially if you're also considering another $80 for the new one and its DLCs. We're not all kings of Bohemia ;) My coffee is just ground up beans with some lukewarm water splashed on top.

It's nice that the Steam ecosystem has market segmentation, though... full price on release, discounts during official Steam sales, and often there are cheaper copies from authorized resellers (especially if you wait a year or two).

For us poorer peasants, https://isthereanydeal.com/ is great for finding sales (from authorized resellers that still activate on Steam).

I really don't see how the age of KCD 1 has anything to do with it, its the same game now as it was back in 2018? You would still spend the same amount of hours playing and get the same enjoyment from it today as you would have 7 years ago.

You could spend a good couple hundred hours playing KCD 1 if you didn't just run through it and made sure to do all side quests etc so in my opinion even the current Steam price for the Deliverance Royal Edition is very much worth every penny.

I use the below website to look for games before I purchase through Steam directly, the below site basically lists hundreds of games on sale from sites that are all official verified legit key sellers.

Sure, but it's just another form of market segmentation. Why do games go on sale, ever? Presumably to give the cheapskates a chance to buy it later after the initial rush of people who could afford it to buy it at launch already got their fill. If you're rich and can afford it, sure, please do feel free to support the developers however you can – the gaming industry needs it now more than ever, with all the inflations and layoffs. They'd love it if you bought titles on release at full price.

Unfortunately, then there are buyers like me who almost never buy games at full price, especially single-player titles. I don't have much disposable income to begin with and prefer to wait for sales. There are so many free and cheap games that "hundreds of hours" is not really that big a distinction; if anything, it has to be an exceptional game to justify that sort of time investment. Most games I buy for $5-$10 and play for 2-4 hours and move on from.

If I wanted a time sink, hours / dollar isn't a good metric. There are a dozen other great open-world RPGs that I haven't played through either, for a few dollars each or even less on Gamepass/Uplay/etc, and I would never have time and money enough to finish them all.

It's just an oversaturated buyer's market with a ton of games to choose from, and there's no rush to try any particular single-player title, especially if waiting a few days or weeks for the next sale means you can save 80%. I don't pirate games (anymore), but I also typically don't pay full price unless it's a developer/publisher I already know and really trust (like Larian). I wait for a middle ground sale where the devs get SOME money. The alternative isn't buying those games at full price, it's just never buying those games and spending time on cheaper titles instead.

I just don't have much money, and value it differently than you do. For what it's worth, I do try to buy supporter packs for the games I REALLY like, just to support the devs, but those games are far and few in between.

Deliverance Royal Edition is very much worth every penny.

I hope so! It sure looks fantastic so far. I did buy it on sale, and am looking forward to playing through it. If it's good, I'll probably get the second one at full price or nearly so.

Thanks for sharing that! I'll have to try it next time.
