Do bountys erase after X days gone?

My game bugged out, i was attacked by some robbers around rattay, defended myself and my reputation is still fine, i have no bars to the sides of my compass to indicate the guards want to arrest me yet everytime a guard sees me they immediately accuse me of murder. And its not even just 2 days or something, its whopping 10 days of jail, cant buy or talk my way out of it and i kinda refuse to take that penalty for what seems like a bug?

I even tried paying it off via church but they still want to put me to jail.. im confused and it really is killing my enjoyment at the moment. Anyone know a fix? Maybe a console command or something to clear my bounty?

I dont mind getting punished for crimes ive been caught doing but this feels ... dumb honestly

There's no command for it, and even the buff command to heal yourself won't get rid of it. You can try cheat_remove_all_buffs after spending the 10 days, but other than that, i don't think there's much you can do.

Yes - bounties are supposed to clear (expire) at the usual in-game 10-14 day limit

also depends on the seriousness of the crime. Did you kill someone important? Way longer bounty time; possibly it wont lapse or expire.

thanks to the both of you i guess ill just live in woods for a bit, hunt bandits around other town. Its not like theres nothing to do. Just kinda sucks because i wanted to continue the main quest :D

no not really, just like unnamed npcs

It depends on the seriousness of the crime. If you're just wanted for a fee, it'll go away after few days (even faster with the 'ordinary mug' perk). If you are wanted for murder, it won't go away.

ah man i guess im just gonna take a dive then, resets my stats and its fine. Just a shame about my diet buff :/

this isn't completely true - the length of time is certainly longer for worse crimes

but, bounties for murder will expire - i've witnessed it - it took 14 days, just like the game's limit for respawn and resets

unless ur saying you've waited 15+ days and it never expired ?

i haven't tested this throughout different parts of the story, so it may not always be valid, but it was understood early on that all crimes would expire after some max time

so, if u've witnessed it not expiring after 15+ days, then that would be different, and not as advertised by the devs - we know other bugs exist, and this would be good to know

i thought the murder bounty never expires until you go to jail..?

i waited more than 15 days and it never went away..

definitely a ♥♥♥♥ tier system then. impossible to continue the story until it clears.
