the only "kit" given to Henry was a helm, a gambeson, and a cudgel - "(that's enough to keep the peace)"
gotta go test this :) .... hmm .... initial and secondary testing done
okay, so, it's not determined based on the Tabard (waffen/hood) in any way,
after testing, the Nightingale "kitted" check is definitely related to total armor Henry is wearing, and not just chest items (no shirt Henry can pass)
As a first test, a no-clothes Henry fails the check, causing Nightingale to tell Henry to go get kitted (in my game)
As follow up testing, i slowly added items to Henry until i "passed" Nightingale's test
My best guess, to be used as a reference, is that the total average armor must be around 5 in order to "pass" the test
Here's the gear i was using - all pieces needed to pass, removing any item will fail:
Common Bascinet
Light Tarred Jacket + Leather Jerkin
Hunter's Gloves
Green Hose + Hunting Boots
Head 6 6 2
Body 5 7 7
Arm 5 5 2
Leg 4 4 2
You can also over load Head and Arms armor and still pass the test without body clothing or armor - so the test must use a "total armor average"
if you are getting vastly different results, you probably have some corruption in your game files - remove mods, re-verify installation, start game with new save
apparently, you need slightly better armor to pass the test that just what was given to you by the guards (i've never heard of this before, so thanks for mentioning it).
you will need to add the additional armor items you *should have* accumulated (from Talmberg), like padded coif, hunter's gloves, and some form of plate couters (elbow covers at least), and a leather vest
if you skipped through the prologue and if you only have the armor provided by the guards, then Henry's in for a world of hurt...
... are u doing a speed run ?
