it is not possible this is the game's fault - the user is in complete control of the saves

r u using some form of cloud saving ? (please don't)

interruption in ur network can cause this, or some other hardware fault

without cloud saving, the game saves are here:

C:\Users\[username}\Saved Games\kingdomcome\saves\[playline(n-1)]\

it is certainly possible for the user to select "new game" in your circumstance...

which could delete all saves from an existing game (playline)

but that would be from "user" selection and lack of understanding, not the game's fault

That sounds more like you have some system issue. Did the game CRASH? Did it actually save, or did you save before the "data was deleted"?

A new game starts a new profile, but you can still switch back to your other game and load those saves.

nope, i died once, went ot reload save, and my current save (i had 2) was gone, now i only have my second playline that is still at the first quest

the wording the game provides when you die can be rather confusing

it seems to imply a sort of "(you died, new game, start over)", but i think "continue" is all that's needed at the moment after death to reload most recent save

however, if you follow the implication of "new game", there is certainly a "new game" option that will erase the data within the playline you select

there are pop-up warnings for this "new game, erase old data", and that's all the game can do to prevent mistakes but allow intent

but whether this is the cause or not - the game does not delete user files without the user instructing the deletion and granting permission

it's always a 2-step process, like : "are you sure?" [ Y/N ]

so, if files are missing from the file location, they were deleted by a user or by a hardware or other system problem

Could one of those saves have been an exit save? Those can only be loaded from the main menu or by choosing "continue" after dying.

that is exactly what i did, and no, i saved with schnapps right before that death
sounds like a you issue
I have a list of back saves not just one, there are several. Do people really only keep saving and rewriting the same save file?

some time ago, i started saving on multiple files, either because of a poorly timed save, where if i load it, there is no escaping imminent death, or a game that had an occasional corrupt save file bug, which would lock on loading it, and the only way to progress is to use a previous save. Am i the only one that does this?

No. A smart person does that. Especially with a gaming history and experience

Is it even possible to save over the same one with out it being maxed out? Every time you click "Save game" it just creates a new save file up to number 10. Then you can pick. So not having a single save is damn near impossible.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it.. I've seen a post here and there where people have lost their save files and apparently uninstalling Onedrive stopped the problem. Perhaps this is the case with the OP?
This sounds like it might be the MS OneDrive issue again. @OP Did all of your player profiles and game saves disappear from the menu?

I played this on PS5 a few years ago and my save got permanently corrupted by the end of the game.
Tips? Your game is perma broken and you have to replay.

Haven't touched it since.

i managed to find a save online to progress further, i finished the main story and decided to go on the dlc, im on amorous adventures and the game gives me an infinite loading screen when trying to pick up capon... this game is great, when its not completely and utterly broken... thankfully i can peacefully lay the game down now, but i wanted to perfect it and do all dlc, and sadly theres no workaround for that one since no one uploaded any saves for it
