wow this game can be frustrating

Scouting the cuman camp. Game says i can poison the enemy food. So i fast travel to get some poision and on the fast travel get ambushed by 3 cumans with armor and shields. Still early in the game keep in mind. Guess i aint getting that poision. Also the horse getting caught on foilage is very annoying

The impenetrable bushes are the most frustrating part of the game for me. I pretty much gave up on fast travel because of the ambushes. At least if they ambush while you are riding the horse, you have a chance to get away. When you fast travel and get ambushed it puts you in the middle of them with your horse running away...

Combat is actually the best I have ever seen in a game. You just have to learn how to fight instead of being OP from the begining.

yea and im still early and the game thinks its fine to ambush me with 3 armoured cumans lol

It just takes knowing what you are doing. You are probably just used to games that coddle you to make you feel like you are the best fighter in the world and can take out 20 enemies without breaking a sweat.
In KC:D, If you actually take time to learn how to fight and when to not fight and just run, along with the actual mechanics of the fighting system, it is not bad at all.

There are other players on this forum (not myself admittedly) who are quite proficient at melee combat in KCD and can take on more than 3 enemies at once.

If you think 3 light-armoured Cumans (and they do class as light-armoured) are difficult, then try getting in the middle of a skirmish between 2 groups (8 men) of heavily plate armoured brigands - if they see you, they will stop fighting each other and attack you.

Is that a blanket allegation... or based on your vast experience? Where's the evidence?

I suspect that like so many others it's just wild speculation and insinuation that cannot be confirmed or proven through hard, empirical, irrefutable data facts.

But, I'm not like that and I prefer to lead by example, so here's proof positive that the combat doesn't have to be and isn't "pretty atrocious" even when "more than 1 enemy gets involved."

I will agree with foliage and horse riding. Now about the rest, yes combat can be a bit rough but it's really satisfying once you get used to this. I'm playing with heavy armor, mace and shield and just managed to beat 3 and later one more cuman in a small camp. Trying not to get surrounded, use the enviroment... and of course in time with training your character becomes really tough. Pick your fights. In the beginning i wanted to kill 2 bandits, only had a short sword so i attacked the one while he was sleeping and rushed the second without giving him time to prepare.

dont use fast travel
1) you usually cant avoid ambush
2) it is slower than normal traveling

it is more safe later, when your Henry is stronger and you dont care if you will be ambushed or not.

That's one reason I keep several bane poisons on me at all times. Actually, I keep a stock of several different options on me all the time. I keep my blades dosed, and if I see a fight coming, I chug potions like the Witcher.

As a side note, alchemy is a good money maker, even if you buy the ingredients.
