randomly searched by guards in rattay

after henry gets into a fight with hans while closing the tavern, every guard in the city randomly wants to search me, even though im LITERALLY A GUARD. and since i stole the ring from the executioners house i get arrested. i dont understand why this is happening and i cant even get to the mill to put the ring away. is this a glitch or is this somehow intended...?

The searches are sometimes random, but most of the time If you have a poor reputation they'll search you especially if you have a habit of riding your horse into them or if you look suspicious (sneaking around, stealing stuff, etc.), you'll also get searched.

Why don't you just pay them 20 bucks and be done with it? Where is the problem?

I've restarted the game a few times, and I'm always getting searched around the first evening in Rattay. I'm starting to think it's hard coded to get searched early in the game, so we can learn about this mechanic before we're tempted to rob everything and walk around with stolen loot. It's unfortunate for the OP to have that ring on.

PS: minor spoiler: on more than one occasion I've been searched right after exiting the cutscenes after the hunt with Hans. It's a bit annoying as I had no say on my character's position in the game and the guard who spawns right next to me.

If the searches feel more frequent, then there may have been a change in some of the parameters (factors) that influence the "Search Henry" mechanic

Here's what we've guessed at and tested over the years (it aligns with devs general description)

The Rattay guard "search Henry" mechanic is influenced by a few factors,

and these factors either increase or decrease the likelihood of Henry being approached

1. Reputation - if Henry's Reputation level with the "Rattay Soldiers" is below "50", the likelihood of him being searched increases greatly

2. Charisma - if Henry's charisma (general appearance with clothing and cleanliness) drops below (about) 10, the likelihood of him being search increases

3. Speech - oddly, the higher Henry's Speech skill, the likelihood of being searchd decreases

4. Actions / Guard Omniscience - criminal behavior (in Rattay) increases the likelihood of Henry being searched

The game uses a pseudo-omniscience in Rattay to encourage the guards to search Henry based on how many unseen crimes Henry has committed in Rattay

This is meant to model a "local citizen awareness" that Henry has been sneaking around

well i havent committed any other crimes and ive solved pretty much every situation through speech so far so idk 💀my reputation with the rattay soldiers is 50 i mean I LITERALLY JUST FINISHED MY SHIFT OF PATROLLING THE TOWN IM WEARING THE ARMOR THEY GAVE ME

ok well i tried running away but the guard just has infinite stamina so i just let them search me and apparently they just dont even care about the stolen ring anymore

Things will stop being marked as stolen after a while(more time the more valuable the item is)

No, never happened to me. Schwarzkopf Jr. pretty much said it all.

I got searched after boar hunting with Hans. Sir Radzig trusted me but the guards in Rattay didn't.

They also search you, if your equipment is cheap. Improve your equipment and check again. If your clothes are falling apart it's enough reason to search you
If u go to Rattay the first time in just your default equipment, you will have to pay the guards to let you in. A better weapon and leather gloves from a bandit camp can help already
