Henry keeps missing after successful clinching

I've tried to find an answer online but it seems like I'm the only one having this issue, as the title says in combat I will either initiate or be in a clinch and if I actually win it and knock them back my follow up attack always misses, no matter what distance I am to them and if I try moving forward.

I'm at a loss, it's really frustrating that it's just a pointless animation at this point.

It's a weapon reach problem.
Get a longer weapon, like Longsword, and use it without shield. You miss because you do not reach your opponent. Also use "stab" attack (right mouse button), because it has more range.

If during tourney clinch with the opponent's back to the fence so they can't back up too much but even then with short weapons like maces really need you to close the gap.

Thanks guys that was it the T-rex arm range; I actually did this in the tourney too and it was kind of a cheese I just kept clinching them into a corner and bonking them on the head until I won.
