I have no issue with the engine, it's quite good and fairly priced, or the company in general. I'm just skipping their store and games that have their launcher.
I have never bought a game on EGS, but those free games are like unlimited trials. Funny how it works out for Valve rather than Epic.
Steam is convenient. (I even launch EGS from Steam as a non-Steam game.)
kingdom come deliverance and also kingdom come deliverance 2 are both made with CryEngine, not Unreal Engine
we all know
No achievements, no point store, no in-app forums, no proper friends list, no profile page, no support, no refund policy, no proper mod support.
Okay, enjoy your game on Epic.
And yes, some are 'crappy' but when it comes to crappy games, Steam is ground zero.
I admit I never bought anything on Epic.
I always wanted to try KCD, but was reluctant to shell out the bucks
even when it was on sale.
Saw a post on PC Gamer a few years back that KCD was free for a short time
on Epic, and I scrambled to create an account and grab this treasure,
only to sit in my Epic Game Library gathering dust,
as I was playing RDR2. (which I bought on Steam)
And there it sat in my Epic Game Library.......
Dormant....
Unused...
Read some forum post about how hard the Combat was, and how difficult it was.
I was reluctant to start the game.
I waited...
I started playing KCD about 8 months ago, and very much like the game.
I trained with Bernard for quite a bit before venturing out,
Learned how to read, learned Alchemy so I could make potions and particularly
saviour schnapps, as I did not want to use the Nexus mod for saves.
Not sure what the big deal is with Steam achievements. ( I see a lot of posts about them)
I have quite a few in other games, but I don't think I can do anything with them,
so not really important to me.
I saw an opportunity for KCD for free, and I jumped on it.
C'est la vie
I mean I will continue to get the free games on it because who knows I may run across one that I was interested in but wasn't convinced to pull the trigger on buying it yet so I download it and try it for a couple of hours to see if I want to purchase it on steam lol.
Never Had Problems Like that with Epic Games.
Something New to me.
