Why is my saved game gone?

Opened the game today after I was gone for a day and now my progress is gone, no load or continue that I can load, why and how did this happen, can't find any saved game files anywhere ether?

in Win11, saves should be in /users/(your user name)/Saved Games/kingdomcome/saves

I've heard people may experience problems if they have Onedrive installed or some such.

File whit this name is all that is in there: permanent001.whs

And in the previus folder only this one: steam_autocloud.vdf

I can confirm that Microsoft Onedrive is the culprit. Uninstall the program via the official method through settings and the issue should resolve itself.

So just restart a new game wount fix it?

And what if i dont have it insalld, i have uninstalled that erlier.

You likely only thought you uninstalled it, and perhaps not in the correct way (needs to be disabled first then...). And\or windows updated and re-installed it, there have been worse things windo$e has done.

Then it should be fine. just start the game, save and exit and see if you can load the save this time.

Just realized this could be a changed user profile issue, if you have multiple users setup on the pc and logged in as Fred, instead of Larry for example, or perhaps if you logged in as Admin. In other words, the save files could still be there, but under a different account profile.

Well it seems to work now I restarted, and so far it works, but we will see tomorrow.

I spent literally all day trying to figure out a similar situation with another game years ago on a newly bought computer -- I had no knowledge of how insidious Onedrive was then -- but now I see the crystal clear light and it is NOT cloud saves... That and every steam forum I go to some thread where a person lost saves to steam cloud... It just is not worth the 'convenience', manage your own files, you will be a better PC gamer.

Cloud system is such a horrible thing. Everyone should have that thing disabled. Not only does it take ages to synch up. Saves can get lost or corrupted and it doesn't care, it will download those corrupted saves and overwrite your perfectly fine saves.
