one of the guys for the punch me quest keeps running away

I'm really not sure what caused it but every time Stephen catches sight of me, he runs and my reputation decreases. Is there anything I can do about this (anything, even console commands or mods) other than do something to get thrown in jail? I can't complete the quest because I can't interact with them either, even if I chase after them (picking a fight will let me talk but only offers the conversations given when a person surrenders to you)

Happened once when I was really new to the game. One of them saw me stealing and he started doing that behavior. Restarting an earlier save or going to jail sounds like the only legit workarounds that I am aware. ilegit... hmm, maybe you could google if there is a specific command that resets or adds to your reputation to a specific NPC or NPC category of a town.

you can adjust your general Reputation by doing time in jail or by paying an "indulgence" at the box in the upper chapel in Rattay

I have zero jail time and I'd prefer to keep it that way =\

I think what happened is I had tabbed away from the game and I clicked in the game window to switch back but this caused me to do a punch and this guy just happened to be there.

I couldn't find a command to modify reputation sadly. at least not from the list that I found.
