I cannot finish a friend in need

I have to wait for Matthew Et Al at the millers. I’ve done all the talking etc and I’m waiting for the fight but in the “evening”. But when I pass time I fail when I haven’t even fast forwarded past moon. WT ACTUAL F????

I have zero idea how to finish this complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mess of a side quest. So i just went and started a fight with Thomas and the beat him up, stole his stupid scarf and the quest ended in failure but oddly also after it ended in failure IO had a successful end notification to the quest. It seems like there's no right or wrong way to play this dreadful quest. It was absolutely pointless.

There are multiple ways to complete this quest. The only thing that matters is the end result. How you do that is totally up to you.

I couldn't even get to the evening. It would fail me at 12 Noon. I was supposed to have the fight in the evening. It's a bugged side quest.

- After getting Thomas to agree to the fight, did you speak to Fritz to let him know the fight was on?
- What time was it when you started to skip time and for how many hours did you skip time?

Yes, I went to Fritz, he said to return back to them in the evening. “A” was still there next to Fritz. I advanced time one hour to noon and the quest failed. So I tried various methods from my last load. Gave up snd just challenged Thomas to a fight, beat him up then the quest ended with a green tick completed.

A total mess of a quest if you ask me

That's strange. I've never heard of this bug before. Glad you completed it in the end though, albeit in an unorthodox way.

The only possible explanation is a mod that messes up your game or a corrupted game file. You are literally the only person I've ever heard of to have thos problem. The quest itself is perfectly fine. It has at least 5 different way to solve the issue and all of the story-lines are bug-free, so whatever problem you have is specific to your installation.
