failed quest "all that glisters" and can't continue the main story.
Hello, hope you are having a good day, I finished the quest "all that glisters" but it's showing it as failed in the quest log, and the game didn't start the next quest automatically after talking to Sir Radzig which is "If You Can't Beat 'em". there isn't a clear way to replay it, thus I can't go further in the main story.

I spent 120 hours on this save doing side/DLC quests and taking the scenic route, and when I finally I'm ready to complete the game I realized my game is broken. wretched luck. please help. thank you.

All that Glisters has a few different details in order to be completely complete - all it indicates is that you missed a detail or two or three... But you should still be able to get through the main quest.

Read a walkthrough online to figure out what you missed

Wow! I admire you for trying to complete the game without saving but not enough to do the same thing. xD

In fact,I have the Unlimited Saving mod and use it whenever I'm starting out on a quest and when I finish a quest and i sleep every night, too. So I guess I'm a 'save scummer.' Oh well, not losing any sleep over it.

You do have my profound sympathy, however. 120 hrs! I feel crazy when I lose 2.

Like another poster here, I think you missed something or perhaps killed someone you should not have. Find the quest on-line and read through the walk throughs to see if you can identify what you missed then load a previous save that puts you before that time. I can't believe you did 120 hours without a save, you probably have some sleep & saves you did along the way or a save and quit.

Yeah there is a user who frequents these threads who has a strange, visceral, almost inappropriate hatred of "save scummers"......... as if other people's playing style is any of his/her damn business or concern and something to get rattled about. I can't remember who it is though.

I have a save that goes all the way back to the start of all that glisters but it's about 40 hours of gameplay back, as I said I prioritized DLC's and side quests and when I finished them all and was ready for the main quests I realized they were broken. if I knew from the beginning I wouldn't have done any other quest until I fixed the main quest.

I contacted the game's customer support, I'm hoping they can give me a console command or something that restarts the quest. if not I'm probably gonna be forced to replay the whole past hours which sucks...

Well good luck with that. I tried contacting the devs and WH when I first started playing too. They've moved on.

As far as re-playing 40 hours--I'm sure it's very frustrating and daunting but there are people here who have played the whole game eight times or more.

And they just keep getting better.

Personally, after tearing my hair out a little (I don't have much left) I'd just clear my mind and jump back in, as if it were all new... and be grateful for the practice. xD

@OP - you likely missed something - recheck all the steps in your journal and compare them to the wiki steps.

You do know that the names of the saves do not necessarily mean it for that quest only. Look at the date/time stamps of the save. For example, a save might say Ratty Tourney but it also includes what you have been doing perhaps on another quest.

I decided that I'm far too invested in the game to give up now so went back to the save I had when the game wasn't broke, and I found the reason why my game was bugged,

SPOILERS: the quest "if You Can't Beat 'em" did actually start but one of the NPCs that I need to approach was in the patient room next to the Monastery and he died after a certain amount of days past because I didn't get him the cure he needed because I was doing other stuff, and that stopped me from being able to talk to him and it failed the quest for me.

Sounds about right, the game was not bugged as you did not complete another quest on time, seen this happen many times. Good luck and watch out for those quest that have time limits for completion, there are not many, but some.

So many 'bugs' are like that. Maybe most of them.

Glad you found the answer.

You should be able to proceed the quest without that person. Just talk to Baliff of Sasau or the Miller Simon.

Yes. Most of the "failed" quests can be reopened and passed or bypassed if you find the alternative solution(s), it is rare when there is only one option (e.g. during the preparation for the Vranik battle, when you can only waste a very short amount of time from where you are tasked to get assistance).

The quest log hints are only showing the options Henry has discovered - but there may be other options he is unaware of that you can stumble on, or figure out. (Side quests can be simpler and far more linear step-by-step, and there are more than a few I won't take on, or will abandon when I don't want to progress them further, main quests have a 'destination' and a variety of paths and subpaths to get there.. which can include finding *very* direct solutions.).
