_first thing at the start the character is a noob
_second thing take time to build and learn the game mechanic without rush the campaign you will miss the most important : training and training again to fully enjoy this game
The Main Quest itself can probably be finished in about 50 hours total if you rush, but, imo, that would be a mistake. The game has multiple side quests and DLC worth pursuing and enjoying. Most folks spend over 100 hours per playthrough.
Everyone starts the game in a Prologue that teaches the basics - and then you move on to the Main Game portion.
Since this is an open world, you do not have to follow the main quest immediately, and can instead choose to follow side quests and do other activities, returning to main questline whenever you decide.
Many choose to start the main quest right away, but in my current playthrough i have spent over 40 hours in game before starting the main quest.
I've been doing PC gaming for over 25 years, and Nintendo before that. I have always enjoyed RPG, Action RPG, & Strategy games. According to Steam, i have clocked over 1600 hours in game. I have similar numbers in Fallout, Elder Scrolls, RDR and Witcher Games.
KCD is a very good game and all the DLC is worthwhile. With that said, KCD was a Low Budget development, so it's not as polished as some other titles, but it is still a gem.
The story writing & voice acting are excellent.
Yes - the mechanics are fairly unique, tricky to learn, and sometimes hard to accept. Compared to previous games, combat is most like Risen (camera lock is a bit clunky).
If you come from any game that taught you to "get used to dying" then you should be fine with the level of difficulty of KCD - but if you expect to be an unbeatable hero, you will likely be given several wake-up calls.
The game is worth learning and exploring. The combat is unique, and once you succeed, very rewarding. There are enough other layers to keep folks coming back.
