Band of bastards dlc. How to save them all?(Spoiler alert)
You all probably got this a lot. I searched internet but there is no solid solution. Also, extra question: what did you all here do to Jakey in the end? (It disappointed me that Jakey did betray the band, I really thought he was set by Kuno to be double agent lol).

First time I did it must have taken like 20 tries.
I just completed this quest yesterday for the second time, on Hardcore, also while keeping everyone alive. Maybe I just got lucky, but what did the trick in the 7th or 8th attempt yesterday was poisoning a longsword with Dollmaker potion and poking everyone I could to spread the poison. In the end I personally killed just two guys and the band did the rest, including dispatching Hagen Zoul.
I even followed the band back to camp and no one bled out.

What makes Dollmaker better than Bane is that it reduces enemy skills, while making them slower and with 50% less stamina, so they can't defend or attack properly while reaching the damage threshold faster. This in theory, haven't experimented much with it.

And with Jakey, I sent him to prison the first time. I was after the achievements, so I left him tied then reloaded and cut him loose. I was intending to reload again and take him to prison after getting the achievement, but if you let him go he tells you Hagen intends to bribe Kuno, which you will tell him later and opens another dialog option when dealing with Hagen, so I went with the let go option this time around.
Also, you can either tell Kuno you let him go, which he chews your ear out for, or that you "got rid of him", which he interprets as you killing the boy.
If you let Jakey go, he promises to repay the kindness, but I sincerely doubt the boy will ever ammend his ways (or appear in the sequel), so Prison is the best option.

I found the best way was to run into the fray and start hacking away with a mace at the most heavily armoured ones first (like Zoul for instance), face stabbing a lot but ultimately making sure nobody is getting a 2-on-1 (Zoul's men outnumber ours by a surplus of 2).

As for Jakey, I always kill the little git because he tries to betray me when I cut him loose.

Right, so I tried to get much of aggro on me by swinging many different targets, but I guess it’s hard to distinguish friends and foes after several sec, after clash. I guess I’ll try again with war hammer, I used axe last time.

I once watched a Youtube video wherein the guy weaved in and out between everyone, used his bow, scoring head-shots with great accuracy and saved everyone but I wouldn't recommend it as even I can't do it that way and I'm pretty good with the bow.

So this very day I still can't work out how the guy managed it considering bow draw time and the fact that the targets can move and yet he saved Kuno's band.

I just remembered that I also used to try and flank Zoul's men from behind so that I had an unobstructed access to the backs of Zoul's men without Kuno's men getting in the way.

This was the method i used - getting aggro on as many as i could. About half the times i managed to aggro the good guys, but half the time it work with varying results of "save them all".

I took the normal trio of survivability potions (Aqua Vitalis, Bucks Blood, Lazarus), aggro'd everybody i could, tapped blocked a lot, broke ranks to keep them moving around - and attacking anyone that was attack the BoB leader (he was the one i wanted to keep alive the most)

I managed to save them all twice i think in about 10 tries - and in two-thirds of those, i was the last one standing.

Yea, I don’t think I will ever try the bow, maybe the last resort after tons of failures, but not right now. Even my bow skill is 14, and with potion it’ll be 19, hardly any sway, I still don’t want to try the bow, it’s still too hard to aim in this game, especially on hardcore ( I don’t know if there is cross air/reticle on normal mode).

There is a mod which turns on the reticle. I think it's literally a case of going into one of the games text files and changing the value from 0 to 1 but I don't recall which file.

Dang thanks for those tips, might try that potion to see how it goes again.

Also, that was he only attempt I did with Dollmaker poison on a sword. Tried it with poisoned arrows before but since I was using the most powerful bow in the game I couldn't get many shots off. Maybe with a light bow like Capon's bow it would be easier to distribute the poison.

Weird, I thought they were coded to be immortal like they were with the attack on that farm to save those women? I saw almost all of them "die" and then resurrected when the battle was over. I assumed it was the same at the end of the DLC because all of them survived.

Not at last battle. Because last battle is decisive, whether all men alive or not, you will report accordingly to Sir Razig. You can fail the dice activity after last battle too, if any of them dies.

Untill the last battle they're all flagged as essential and thus can't die. It would be weird for one of them o keel over and then show up on a cutscene. And it would be a lot of work to make cutscenes specific for the 36 possible combinations of who is alive and who is dead.

Interestinghly enough, Kuno can die at any point and you'll have to load a save and make sure he doesn't die. Maybe it glitched for me, but Kuno died at the farm raid and a pop up said "kuno is dead".

To reiterate, everyone can die at the final battle. There's even dialog for it when you report to Sir Radzig.

I was absolutely gobsmacked when as soon as we started combat I found myself surrounded by 10 opponents and getting a message that my earstwhile 'leader' was dead. Say what ? I didn't think he could die !!!!!

Next time just for lol's I told him to piss off. Surprisingly, he actually did that. That was another shocker. One single combat later I got me some sweeeeet gear off of Zoul, who for my money looks like John Cleese.

As for Jakey, I sent him to prison. His escapades provided me with some of the best laughs I've ever had in this game.
