The combat tutorial in Skallitz is a complete waste of time, or worse. It gave me a false sense of confidence, since I'm used to more "gamey" games: where the peasant starts out as a level 1 badass instead of as the actual peasant the narrative paints them as. In spite of the mercenary's warning, I full expected to be able to cut down a Cuman or two at least, because that's how it goes in just about every other game I've ever played. The player would have been far better served to not even be allowed to fight.
The opening act of KCD is probably the single worst gaming experience I've ever had. If I wasn't such a nerd for medieval history, I never would have stuck around long enough to appreciate the game's shining qualities.
the tutorial for fist fights is not safe in the slightest. kunsh just kicks your ♥♥♥♥ in, and you can't do any rematch without loading to a checkpoint
and then there's the fight with duetch's lads which is again, missable, because not all players like playing with literal ♥♥♥♥. and the fight itself is extremely easy so it douesn't teach anything
realistic melee combat was advertized as one of the game's core and exciting features of this game, but you only get to it after like 2 hours and then you're a weak miserable ♥♥♥♥ that can barely fight a single enemy with a stick
no thanks i don't want to deal with all this garbage. i play games to have fun, and the game's start is the opposite.
gj for the authentic depiction of how crappy medival life was but that's not how you attract players and certainly not how you teach how to play
Literally mad cuz bad. Pathetic.
Man up. Go back and buy the game and learn to deal with failure. It's only a minor setback on the road to badassery.
KCD is not for most gamers.
But I love it.
KCD is not like other games. When you fail, it is not end of the world. Getting beaten by Kunesh is part of the experience! You can ask your friends to help you beat him up, you can ask your mom to heal you. Etc.
The prologue teaches you everything, and it is quite a bit longer than just Skalitz.
the first one teaches basic moves like slashing and blocking and then stresses the need to attack from different angles and leave the opponent guessing which direction you'r gonna attack from and how you should vary it. . . .
and then throws all that out the window in the next session, when you learn master strikes and you end up having to do those for the entire game.
the
p.s. that fist fight in the prologue is winnable.
