I think that is a personal playing choice and hard to answer for you. I like to read guides and such, myself, but I know a lot of players who don't. One of the biggest learning curves of the game is the effort to make it more realistic for the hero of the story. He has zero skills at anything, and has to learn it all. This shows massively at the start, when he can't really fight, shoot an arrow, read, ride a horse well, etc. because he's never had to do this before now. Henry has to learn everything, and so do you as a player. As Henry levels up, his skills improve and things become a bit easier to do, but it does take time. I rather like this, honestly, but it can be frustrating for many people.

Only thing I didn't go blind in after the first time I played this was the name of the timed quests. Aside from that, you'll be fine.

You'll have a hard time, but you'll be fine.

But at the end, it's up to you if you need a bit of walkthrough to get around the difficult parts of the game or need some directions, there's no shame in that.

i suggest u go in blind and develop ur own opinion - start a new game whenever

but you should absolutely pay attention to what the game tries to teach you, so Read (and Not Skip) every single tool-tip that pops up (and all pages)

also, understand that there are verbal hints about gameplay built into the prologue (tutorial) provided by the npcs. You need to listen for them (like all the words during initial sword training in Skalitz) - so pay attention

the one caution i would provide is to learn about the KCD limited "Save" utility - it surprised me and it was the first thing i modded - it's discussed in a pop-up that's provided rather late in the prologue (after speaking with someone), so maybe look that one up ?

(basically, there's a limit to the number of manual saves, and you can only make a manual save if you possess a certain beverage called "...Schnapps" - i modded that sh*t)

but mostly go in blind - the game is very well written and rather easy to figure out if you are familiar with Open World Medieval / Fantasy RPG genre

there's plenty of information out there to answer any queries you develop - and the answers will make far more sense after you start playing (and it's far easier to die in the prologue than break the mission, so you'll develop questions rather quickly)

the whole main mission is only about 30 hours, so restarting isn't a big deal. and most folks seem to spend about 120+ hours on their first playthrough, so there's lots more to do than just the main mission - hope it helps - welcome to the game

oh, and for early combat... back step often and only jab until u get better training, but also, most early combat should simply be avoided

It's really just personal preference.
Like the other guy said it is a short main story. But people spend a lot of time in their first playthrough.
I am in my first playthrough. I have 131 hours at the moment and I still think I need couple of more hours to finish the game.

So the question do you wanna read the tips and learn as the game tells you. Or are you gonna watch an youtube detailing things that you don't even know?
Edit: But I do recommend checking out the name of the timed side quests. Those are not fun.
