Where is Brian Blessed in this game? Or is he?
Thanks.
Once I heard his voice in the game, I literally stopped what I was doing and had a 'Flash! AAAAaaaaaahhh!' moment. Well, in my head, anyway.
One of the most unique and distinctive voices, imho.
Jan Hus is still preaching in the Betlem chapel at this time, and he is a professor at the Charles University. This is years before his conflict with the Church goes to the point where he is burned at the stake in 1415 for his "heretical" preachings.
His followers would then go on and start the Hussite wars. Racek Kobyla would actually be a good way to introduce more genuine legends, including Jan Žižka. He was also a follower of the Hussite teachings, if claims are to be believed, and was murdered in 1416 (A year after Jan Hus was burned. Sigismund, who becomes the King of Bohemia, actually gave Jan Hus a paper guaranteeing his safety... which did not in fact protect him from the Council of Constance. That year, Jeroným of Prague is actually also burned at the stake - he met with John Wycliffe, who influenced both him and Jan Hus) and I believe I read somewhere that of his entire retinue at the time of his murder, only one man walked out of the fight alive. You figure out who that would be in terms of the game.
Either way, then the wars get here and no fewer than five crusades are defeated by the Hussites. As the legend goes, one of these turns tail and runs when they hear the chorus of Ktož jsú Boží bojovníci. Who knows if it's true.
The vast majority of the country would remain Hussite up until 1620, at which point we fall under Habsburg rule for the next three centuries, and only get out of it in 1918 with the First Republic. But that is, at the time of the game, two centuries in the future.
And the game's story is poised perfectly to go through ALL these historical events. Easily one of the most interesting parts of our entire national history as a matter of fact.
Compared to this, I have no idea if 1506 even has any interesting events to go through.
I agree, it seems if we went to 1506 the interesting periods would be Italy, England, and Spain; not Bohemia.
Half of it is Racek going "hey, he's my kid, let's give him a job" and Henry vastly surpassing all expectations through sheer competence.
His father's sword is probably a good blade and it was certainly a good device to motivate Henry and drive the story. But in the end, it may not be any better than St. Georges sword. Recovering it would seem almost incidental.
But Henry dern sure is better than when we first meet him... in all kinds of ways.
