But its manageable at least, after a few tries you get the hang of it.
kybd + mouse just takes a moment to figure out the mechanic, timing and motion
I get what they were going for with the controller and in theory it sounds intuitive and should work well, but in reality it's just too hard to be as precise as you need to be when moving stubby little thumb sticks.
i play on HC with the perk that makes everything more shakey - just to make it harder
so, what do i know ::shrug:: :D
and yes, i don't know controller-world at all - but it has been said by some to be harder
When i first started playing KCD, I really got frustrated with lockpicking. After I got the 3 lockpick in Skalitz, I somehow got lucky on the first try and opened a chest, but the next, dozen attempts I kept breaking the lockpicks right and left. Almost rage quit and went looking for info on lockpicking and/or a mod that negates it(iirc nexus mods should have one btw). I did get the mod that changes the skin of the lock into wood wheel spokes, but left the mechanics. Now at lvl 15 lockpicking, they are pretty easy, except for the very hard ones.
Edit; with low level lockpicking, the "easy lock" description in the info box is kind of misleading. The player tends to assume, that easy means that they can do it no problem. but actually, the player should learn / understand that what's supposedly easy is still insanely hard without the proper skills.
People are just babies that complain the moment they fail instead of practising and getting better.
When I first started the game, I could not figure out for the life of me how lockpicking worked with the two sticks on controller. Now that I got the hang of it, I find it really easy now having started a new game on Steam (after beating it on GOG). You just have to get the starting spot right with one stick and then turn both sticks in unison or something like that so the spot moves together with your stick.
