.... should I farm for groschen?
I'm kind of conflicted about doing night raids in Rattay..... The guards feel psychic and unfair and cheesy since they immediately try to pat me down as soon as I hold something stolen..... I also ended up cheesing by dropping all my crap anticipating the guard to ask, and then picking everything up afterwards XD
but it feels unsatisfying afterward, after so many times getting caught and save scumming my way out...
Its pretty early into the questline, I just made a friend with a mooing pastor.... that was a great guy and a hilarious mission XDDDD
but anyway, will side quests level me sufficiently, or should I go farm regardless?

If you need more Groschen you can rob the talior in town north of Rattay. You can store all or nearly all items on your horse. Peshek is closeby to drop or sell your stolen stuff. Usually when I take all items and put them in Peshek' chest I can pickup about 4k few days later.

Best way to level up and get better in combat? The Rattay Tourney. Practice makes perfect, and the Rattay Tourney is IDEAL for that. Best thing about it is that it repeats every 7 in-game days, so even if you lose, all you actually lose is the 60 Groschen fee. Best way to farm Groschen would be the Ruin, Raiders, and Interlopers activities. The weapons and armor you get can be repaired and sold off to the proper merchants for quite a hefty sum.

money is very tight for a while of course, way to easy if you were raking in loads of cash. But soon you will usually only be spending it on repair kits to repair your gear and found gear. Once you have your main outfit and gear you won't need to ever buy anything anymore and the only gear that will be better might be unique gear later, but you'll be set with your defense and charisma gear and will need no more to purchase. Most other items you'll get just from pickpocketing and chests. You'll stock up on repair kits and that is really where most of your money will go, which means you'll build up money like crazy once your set on regular gear.

the most important Need for Groschen early in game is to buy better armor

the main questline provides only pitiful armor and weapons

Henry must rely on interaction with the Open World (and side quests) in order to survive

there are simple ways to arrive in Rattay (after the prologue) with over 1000 Gr and decent armor and weapons (including a cuirass, vambraces, and mid-level weapons)

and simple ways to earn more money doing side quests or looting in the area

once able to train, doing the side quests of "Ruin" from Bernard, Henry can get some good gear and other loot to sell - forever improving

decent armor is important, as are weapon and defense skills - so you must train !

No reason to farm. You get plenty of money by simply playing the game. You will soon end up with infinite money.

Go hunting if you need money, much safer and very lucrative once the trader has accumulated some wealth and it also trains archery and vitality. Just don´t forget to immmediately put the meat into the horses inventory to remove its poached status and then just sell it to the hunter guy in Rattay. In my game he already has over 30000 groschen so no matter how much meat I bring him he takes it all lol.

Not good long term - takes them a while to get it back. Sell and buy from them causes them to get richer and you get richer in the process since they can buy more from you

Best way to farm Groschen is to kill bandits and Cuman. Take their highest value weapons and armor and sell them to the blacksmiths, armorers and sword smiths in towns.

the band of bastards dlc kinda trivialized the money issue since it spawns these bandits fighting eachother on the roads and each is a lootbox of very valuable items.

That happened before the DLC.

raid bandit camps, you'll easily get 1-2K per camp selling their stuff

Indeed, in my little bit of experience, poaching rabbits and then boar and deer as you level your bow/hunting/str/agility/vitality is the way to go for groshen farming. First thing i did to expedite this was to buy better horse. I bought Tulpar. With Racehorse perk and Military Horseshoes his speed is 63 (=

Poaching is definitely my favorite way of making money, and leveling bow skill while I do it. The stolen status on meat goes away pretty quickly so once you get back to town you should be ready to sell.

Alternatively, you can cook the meat so the stolen status gets removed and still sell it for a decent price.

Just open your inventory and shove it into your horses inventory with x. The poached status will be deleted super fast.
