giving this game a second chance any tips for a new gameplay?

just got the royal edition and the first time i played the game i quitted at the first boss fight bc of the combat but that was at the release of the game. any tips for having a better experience or mods?

Get training. Practice skills, Get more training.
Don't advance through the main story too fast too early because there is a point early on where you are sent on three time critical missions one after the other so you have no time between them to train and if you can't win at least a 1v1 fight you will find it difficult.

Also get the different small repair kits (small armourer's kit, cobblers, tailors, blacksmiths) kits so you can keep items maintained.
