Hardcore mode isn't enjoyable...
As title says... Hardcore mode simply isn't fun or enjoyable. I almost always prefer the hardest difficulties in games, and roguelikes with permadeath are often some of my most played games. This being an open-world game with no ability to autosave outside of sleeping or in-game items is genuinely terrible. The amount of progress I have played and then been forced to replay over and over again makes me no longer want to continue this game. One random ambush while on a path through the woods now forces me to travel 20 minutes by horse to turn in a quest before going back to Uzhitz all over again. Just me ranting, but I sincerely hope that this does not appear in the next game, as it is really ruining my experience playing this for the first time.

I'm replaying the game on Normal now for some achievements after finishing it on hardcore and I think the opposite, hardcore was much more fun for me. I will definitely play KCDII hardcore right from the start.

Dunno why after six years and literally thousands of mods, people still complain about minor gameplay mechanics that modders changed years ago.

I'd bet my left arm no one goes on Skyrim forums to complain about Vanilla.

If you look a little ahead while traveling you dont ever have to be ambushed, you can always prevent them from attacking you, you can even jump over the logs on roads with your horse etc., havent been ambushed for ages.
If wished you can then turn around, get off your horse and fight them at your own terms.
And the saviour schnapps can be made so easily too.
All alchemists sell the belladonna, the nettle is everywhere, for a few bucks and a few minutes of time you have a few hours of gameplay saves available

By that logic, why do I have to put extra toppings on a pizza to enjoy that pizza.

Then don't play hardcore mode. It's not exactly a harder difficulty anyway. It's mainly for immersion like removing HUD elements, fast travel etc. The difficulty is exactly the same as normal mode.

I had a lot of fun with negative perks, too. Especially sleepwalking. Imagine doing Sasau monastery quest without an ability to exit and suddenly waking up across the river.

HC does not need mods. People use mods because there are things they want to change about the game but most of us are happy the way it is so we do not use certain mods. Is it right that the game be made the way you like it but we have to use mods to undo the changes made by the devs to keep you happy?

At the risk of sounding like a broken record ... Learn To Craft Potions. The ingredients are common as muck once you know what they look like. I have about 40 Schnapps right now with ingredients for about another 200. I have the autobrew perk so it takes me about 5 seconds for 1 potion. I save fairly often, sometimes every 5 minutes or so.

Is HC fun or enjoyable? Yes, but it can be frustrating sometimes. It does make the game more difficult but this is not a hard game, most of the time. Maybe HC is the wrong name and it should be called "A bit harder" difficulty. I like that combat damage is increased but turning off fast travel does nothing, I did't use it Normal either. Not having a player position map marker is not hardcore it is just annoying sometimes. I don't use quest markers at all, better without them and more hardcore. A HC map would have been nice, one that actually looks medieval with places, rivers and main routes marked rather than the google earth thing we have today. Thing is there are things I would rather be different but I play the game and enjoy it for what it is knowing that if I want something different I should download mods or make my own, doesn't take long.

I always used the negative perks for realism: Tapeworm, Hemophilia, & Brittle Bones are essential to any play through I do.

hardcore mode is hard. i was killed by zbshek.

unable to accept the humiliation (as i hate that guy) i avoid playing hardcore where he is stronger.

Because this is my first time playing the game... Do you download mods to alter your game before you've ever played it?
