Quest rewards in this game suck

You run around on a 2 hour fetch quest and your reward is usually nothing or some small bit of pocket change you cant buy anything of consequence with. Kind of makes me not want to do side quests unless they are tied to important characters.

They could have rewarded you with exp towards certain skills, good loot, unique perks, getting your own personal guard, getting a different dog, unique items, but no - you get nothing or chump change.

I still enjoy doing the side quests but they just could have been so much better with rewards you look forward to.

yes - Quest rewards are minimal

Henry will not have good gear without looting from the dead, or stealing.

Loot more than you need, so you can sell the extra to pay for repairs

Some quest rewards are okay like horse satchel from the horse race or Golden spurs from Hans.
The sword reward from Hanush is also okay.

If you just take every perk related to hunting (inventory capacity, skill up hunting, various types of antler/tusk loot, meat decay etc.) then you can easily get multiple thousand groschen boar hunting every day, it's pretty clearly the best legit method to make money in the game and certainly better than questing

Yeah, the best rewards as far as quests so far are with the tournaments. The skill rewards are nice. There are quite a bit of those. I also don't mind the camp raiding rewards for Rattay and Talmberg. Those raids are rewards in themselves, and then you get some extra groschen to top it off. They are a lot of fun too. Every once in awhile you will get something really good from a generic quest, but it is pretty rare.

If you want money invest in lockpicking, pickpocketing and alchemy. You won't get decent money from the quests even in the late game. They usually give you 10-50 groschen in the early game and 100-500 in the late game, it's only enough to rent a room and maybe to buy some food.
So it's up to you how to make money, stealing or making potions and trade them.

"poaching" is breaking the law, it's not "legit".

unless you change the definition of "legit", then go for it.
