When you buy a new one it allows you to trade your old and get a discount. Also you can buy a horse just after you left Skalitz in the prologue, so I feel sorry if you spent that much time walking by foot and stealing horses you can't own.
I know that horse - it is comparable to some Tier 4 horses....
alas, it is not for Henry to "Own"...
The game does provide Henry with a Horse, at a certain point in main quest.
Otherwise, the only way for Henry to Own a Horse, whether new or replacement, is to buy a horse from a Stable. Hope this helps.

yes -
as a side note, Henry can ride the bandit's horse, but Henry cannot store items on it since he does not own the horse.
it is good that the bandit's horse is not marked as stolen, so using it in a town is okay, but there is a bug that will sometimes cause the bandit's horse to vanish (if you are not sitting on the horse). And since Henry doesn't "own" the horse, he can't call it back.
To help reduce the risk of the bug, be sure to make a save each time you are about to get off the bandit's horse - this seems to help prevent the bug.
I also always recommend this.
In addition to this, if you use a horse which is stolen or marked as stolen, you should only ever dismount and remount in a hidden location like a barn or hidden from public sight behind a building.
