RPG
PLAYER
1. Experienced RPG player.
Yes, I am one, I have beaten all RPG games out there, from gothic 3rd person games to isometric like baldurgs gate 3. I doubt there is a decent rpg game I did not touch, infact the only one I was not touching was this one, and people told me I should not waste time with KCD. I like hardcore games and challenges.
2. You do not even own the game on steam.
- You don't have to own game on steam to play it, there are many other methods. I have been streaming my gameplay on twitch, and have clearly finished the game before writing informed review.
Sometimes in a free country, we would like to test product before buying it. Not support devs that clearly don't care about quality of the game they make. Why do I have to download 20 mods on top of your game to make it barely playable to the end? Why can't you fix most gamebreaking issues, 5 years after the game official release?
3. You are russian.
I may be one in this life, but I don't have any prejudice against people of any nation or race. Talent and skill is valued, does not matter who you are or where do you live. I have greatly enjoyed the RPG game made by Polish devs called Chronicles of Myrtania.
4. Magic is not real.
Do you have any definitive proof of that? That is like saying earth is flat. Can you prove there is no other sentient life in the universe besides humans? I would think Egos don't want to embarass themselves so much by refusing things they cannot possible disprove or comprehend. It is like a single-celled organism, saying that walking humans who write reviews online, is a fantasy bullshido. Ofcourse it would be impossible to believe for a tiny single-cell thing, that a trillion cells together unite, to create a strange being, that does strange things.
nocens donec probetur innocentes
Great, you just confessed that you did not tell the truth and our objections were correct.
You can't seem to prove that either:
- you actually ever owned the game
- have played it yourself
- your "bugs" and "crashes" were caused by mods you installed
- you played every single existing RPG game (doubt that lmfao)
Please name one gaming dev company that isn't getting flamed by the community nowadays. There have been scam kickstarters that did not release a playable game at all but devoured millions of cash from supporters. WH Studios is definitely not one of them.
Now for an actual honest review:
I have played KCD for 494 hours on steam. My gaming hardware is as specified:
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060
- 32 GB RAM
- Intel I5 8300-H Processor
- Game installed on HDD Drive
I don't play with super HD textures for performance reasons.
My game settings were set to medium to low quality.
I have never experienced a game crash during my entire playtime.
In some game areas I had huge performance problems e.g. Rattay
Cutscenes:
some are pre-rendered and cause lore conflicts, e.g. your Henry has different hair/beard style, suddenly wears his sturdy linen tunic even though you stole a whole plate armor set from a guard in skalice.
often the cutscenes forces you to unequip your headwear which disappoints me because i don't want to look at ugly generic faces.
However I enjoy KDC for it's story and can relive it whenever I play it, I also have replayed great parts of the story for fun.
Localization:
I play the whole game in german and I can tell that having Henry being re-voiced by a very talented german Voice Actor is a big plus. There are little to no situations where the voice acting or translation is incorrect.
Time Waste?:
I have no opinion on the length of loading screens. Compared to TES5 they are similar, plus they make sense because they are forced when you otherwise would travel, f*ck bathhouse w**res, sleep or stop playing when auto-saving (it actually helps and prevents save file from getting corrupted)
Realism:
There is a lot of realism implemented into the game.
A sword usually won't cut through limbs, whole chests of humans.
There is some gore in KDC like the blood on wapons and armor, as well as in cutscenes where people are getting hanged, beaten up, tortured in public, decapitated, cut out tongue, there even is a scene where you see a dead man nailed to a wodden house with his guts open and his organs hanging out of his body.
There is nudity as well but in cutscenes exclusively for a good reason.
Dev's don't want you to run around naked with your PP rised and looting women clothes so you can't fiddle with dead female (or male) bodies
Fighting:
Most PvP PvE games feature fighting by clicking buttons combined with character movement. If you are disappointed now, go play VR games.
I notice lots of casual KCD players seem to complain about the difficulty in fights when there is literally no reason to.
As I tell everyone:
1. avoid dangerous fights
2. put yourself in advantage if you have no choice but to fight (you can get a horse and polearm very quickly)
3. Learn the tricks
As you follow the main quest line, you will be unlocking the perfect block technique.
If you keep training for some time (roughly takes 1 hour) you will be able to unlock the master strike. Depending on the weapon type you and your enemy are fighting, this can turn most fights to your favour, as you can't get a hit if you're fighting just one enemy and pay attention.
4. learn the game mechanics and find your tactics
You will be faced with different situations that require to adapt.
nothing is more satisfying to just knock out a group of 5 deserters covered in metal plates with a stick, stabbing an enemy that surrenders during a group fight, absolutely crushing an ridiculous ambush while on a horse because no enemy can outrange your polearm while you charge at full speed.
For me, fighting is not just combat, It's fun because I know how enemys work, respond and I can outplay them. If your Henry got the strength, you won't have to rely on master strikes anymore, you can clinch weapons and knock them back, following with a fast overhead mace attack or longsword stab attack. Fighting can be totally dynamic.
Enemys will also only attack if their stamina is up, or if they charge at you, that is why waiting for them to attack is boring. You can even speed this up, by slowly moving towards them, then running backwards until they have to sprint towards you to attack.
The game works fine for me. I cannot understand why so many people try to talk negative about it. Most things they complain about its why I like the game.
My guy, you can test the product even if you bought it, you can return it if you played for under two hours. You played through the whole game and started yapping after. It is not testing, it kinda goes to the category of theft yk.
And, btw, have you also been "testing" all the RPGs in the world, since your Steam account has like 5 games or something?
Your test must be pretty difficult to pass.
Playing Skyrim with mods and Witcher 3 doesn't make you an experienced RPG player.
Pirating games in 2024, even if you live in Russia and need to put an extra effort in order to get them, speaks A LOT about the personality and sense of respect to product creators. Especially if he really does play since Gothic's release. This person is clearly sure that every game developer must satisfy his personal needs and tailor their product to suit them, but he doesn't want to pay a penny for it and will still complain in a public space how awful is it.
Expecting presence of magic in a historical game, so that it fit his conspiracy beliefs, is a clear depiction of his boasted ego and immature mental capabilities. So far this review is a clickbait scam created to draw some attention to his "popular" Youtube channel and streams.
