CAN'T SPRINT! HELP

So, i cannot sprint, like i press shift and nothing happened, he is running but slow, and the stamina is not going down while running, first i thought that it might be because of the perk Marathon, and after i made a potion to reset all perks i got Sprinter but again, i press shift and nothing happens

I do not have any spear and weapon that could cause this, i have a longsword, a bow, shield.
But even when i drop all my gear nothing changes.
I'm not over limit with weight not even close.

i tried that already twice, restarting the game, none of these worked.

Have you rebooted since installing the game ? This is often necessary

rebooted, reinstalled, played on my PC, played on Geforce NOW, still doesn't work.
I think it's because of the perk Marathon, because the problem started after i got that perk, or maybe other perk...
I restarted the perks with a potion and got the sprinter instead and still not working...
at this point i think i will play like this if i don't find a fix

I recently had this same problem occur to me. I saved the game and closed it then verified the files through some fancy right clicking on the game title in my library and navigating a list of options. Once the file verification process reached a favorable and successful end, i rebooted the game and skipped out the door in my bed clothes as only a slightly dim witted blacksmith's son could and ran, with all speed, around the bench Theresa sits on.

Went through all trouble of logging into Steam, search for this thread again, only to confirm that this solution from SilenceNMadness works!

(at least it did for me)

Seems I cheered to soon ☹️

Started KCD today and again me, nor my horse can run..
Tried the "verify game files" again, but today it didn't help.
Loading old save games doesn't help either.

If anyone has a (permanent) solution for this, please do share 🙏

Silence's fix you listed above is simply to "verify game files", which is a Steam utility that should always be tried first - it's a good tip.

Many of the intermittent (seemingly random) big bugs like this (in KCD) are fixed with a "verify game files" (or with a clean reinstall) and restarting of the PC & game (instead of reusing old game files).

Do not reuse old game files from before ~July 2020 (last game code patch).

Rebooting my pc did the trick (I didn't expect that to make a difference)

Quite peculiar, I recently picked up KCD with a bunch of DLC's on Steam and I'm constantly having this bug.
Years ago, right after its release, I also played KCD on my ps4 and back then I didn't have this issue once.
