Missing/invisible items
I've had some issues, starting in Talmberg, following the story. Getting to the quest where I need to find a guard outfit. There are nothing to be found in the armoury, no shields against the wall, no bow on the table, and all the chests are locked. I went to the trader by the granary to buy lockpicks, but my inventory is empty in the sell tab. It also said I had no money, but I had around 120 Grochen (sorry if I spell it wrong) at the time.

Got to Skalitz eventually, and went through the conversation with Zvyshek, he runs off but there is no spade left behind. I could see the compass marker for it, but the spade was invisible. Same thing happened with the spade at the millers in Rattay, its nowhere near any of the wagons. I've had to cheat spades and lockpicks to move on with the story.

Another issue I've been having, which I suspect is connected to the "missing" tools and inventory problem, I can't see weapons being used. Example: training with Bernard as I'm writing this, is extremely frustrating, since I can't see his sword (or even if he uses a shield) and I can't see my own. I've had the same problem while fighting bandits and Runt in Skalitz.

I've tried searching for solutions a couple of days now. Nothing useful has come up so far. I've tried taking mods out, verifying files a couple times (first time 155 files were found missing), it didn't help.

Does anyone have any input for me? I really want to enjoy the game, but this is only frustrating and very off-putting.

No answer you. You got rid of mods and re-installed.

Only thought is, have you pirated your game?

I don't pirate games. If I did, I wouldn't be asking for help on the games official Steam forum. That would be pretty stupid.

Anyway, got it to work eventually. Took out all mods, verified files. Have put in a couple mods again, and so far its working.

Great news. Dont forget to pay the miller and the Rattay Apothecary for your treatment. Good luck.

Yeh - this definitely sounds like a bad mod problem - many of the mods are very sloppy and should be avoided - especially if they mess with / or touch inventory items or inventory item functionality.

There was always a problem with mod conflicts (thus "sloppy" mods), and a game update to the Database Structure (and save file format) in late 2019 broke many more.

Glad things seem to be sorted for you now - i hope you enjoy the game.

Thankfully, by being a Sims 4 player, I'm quite used to dealing with outdated and not working mods :) in addition to constantly updating mods whenever there are changes to the game.

I do prefer to play games without certain limitations, like unlimited weight. And I think a mod I picked for that, or the mod that changed how much money the merchants have, were the culprits. Game is working good right now, though, so not going to put those back in. Might look for other mods that change those features to how I want them. Testing them first, of course.

Very much enjoying the game, otherwise! :) Beautiful world, very interesting characters, lots of funny moments. And of course moments that hit me right in the feels. Brutal times, indeed.

my older kids play that game side-by-side, and it's a large recipe list just to play the game.
and they love it.

My KCD mods list (files in directory):

NEXT LEVEL MAIN MENU 3.5 (Ultimate Saving Everywhere)
https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/380
No More Rain
https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/93
KCD Architect

Hoods Up

No More Rain

Hardcore - Compass - Full UI Restored (1.9.5)
https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/576

i make additional "customizations" to my "gameplay" by merging several mods together and manually updating the game's data files.

This technique is best described here:
https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6409661-tutorial-tweaking-rpg-parameters/

These manual mods effectively achieve the following (reduces game grinding):
1. Increased Weight Limit (~1000#)
2. Increased Vitality Gain
3. Increased Horsemanship Gain
4. Increased Herbalism Gain (skill rate & quantity)
5. Increased Alchemy Gain
6. Increased Pickpocket Gain
7. Disable NPC Master Strikes
8. (others?)

Thank you for the list :) I will look into the merging. I noticed it was mentioned, but didn't think on it any further. Will keep the list of mods in mind. Was going to visit the Nexus earlier, but started up the game and got completely lost XD I seem to do that a lot, forgetting everything around me. Its a very immersive game, for sure.
