pretty sure they can matter, but at the end of the day the animals have very low vision. Theres a perk which lets you get closer to them as well. I wouldnt worry about it. You can use sneak to get closer, but once you get to like level 8 or 9 hunting, it flat out matters not as you can walk up with in a handful of feet next to the animal and shoot them, even at times hit them before they run, with a sword lol.
The ai for animals is terrible, but its likely that way, because hunting them would be very very very hard. Which would be realistic :^) but in a game not about hunting, is not fun.
But ye, pretty sure if you have no armor, if youre not in their view you can get a little closer to them, then if you had armor. Either way no matter what you can get fairly close.
Conspicuousness, im not 100% on. I think that just effects guards and such, like maybe townfolk. Ive noticed once it gets to red, or 62+ sometimes 60+ guards will stop you more often to search you, especially in rattay. Which it goes up based on how much youre stealing in that area im pretty sure.
Pretty much youre more sus with a higher number, so sneaking, having blood on you ect will raise that.
Unless youre going for a stealth build, I wouldnt worry about visibility much. If youre going to sneak around, its best to wait till night. usually I just take off all my clothing, but im pretty sure darker colors lower your visibility. If youre going full on knight in plate armor, dont worry about it. But if youre going more of a quick agility guy, who sneaks in no matter the time. Youll wanna focus on it a bit more, pretty sure lighter gear is usually brown and such, so itll have lower viability naturally aka in the day AND NIGHT, enemies cant see you as easily.
Noise, well again its good for sneaking around. And again, when I stealth around to kill people, I just strip down. Which is a double edge sword, if you get spotted you cant put your gear on :^).
if youre not focused on stealth, do not worry about noise. If youre wanting to RP more and not just strip, and be not a full on knight, then its good to have noise somewhat low, along side light armor. You can reduce noise of armor from maintaining your self via perks. Theres another perk too that reduces noise.
TLDR, if youre planning on being a warrior doing little sneaking, then dont worry about it. The parts that have some stealth, you can literally just strip. You get stealth kill at level 5 stealth.
Lower noise and visibility is kinda nice for if youre ranged focused though. The closer you can get, the easier it is to hit targets obviously. So if youre focused on ranged. Then youll def wanna focus a bit more (with in reason) on those two stats, so pretty much light armor and not plat armor. BUT with doggos, well theyll sniff your booty out so youll wanna make I think its called "padding" potions. Makes it so dogs wont bark and such. But you get a perk like that from the sneak tree if youre sneaking.
After I can fight 1v1 and do okay, I just started to go in with my horse and cutting people down, till I get knocked off or get into a 1v1. I love the combat in this game. Especially with the immersive combat mod, which does a ton. Makes master striking very very very hard, and removes slow motion, and makes enemies fight better I think. As the mod says, it adds a lot of immersion.
Stealth is pretty fun too though, feels good taking down a bunch of bad asses in heavy armor, with a little steel/iron knife :)
I have my plate armor or combat gear on my horse. It's more realistic to me. Risky, but deepens the immersion. However, I'm putting together a hunting gear and while I know it's not that hard to shoot everything from horseback and that I can get pretty close to game anyway, will low visibility help get even closer if the animals are not facing me? I remember Sir Hans saying something about noise on our hunt and I believe when I was wearing plate armor, rabbits ran away a lot sooner. Still no idea ablut visibility though. I've found some evidence about noise online, but nothing about visibility and I'm not home to test it.
Whether the game actually incorporates the different buffs, that is a different matter. Many games have bugs that player cannot see, silent bugs, where a potion is supposed to buff some trait but simply doesn't. W3 full of them...
Yeah lower visibility and noise should help a little. It likely wont seem like a huge difference since you can already get really close to them.
I find horse back archery hard, but hardcore has no HUD lol.
But ye, sneaking helps you get closer, so I know for a fact noise helps you get closer. Id assume visibility would too, as thats how all the AI works. Its not really noticable on rabbits, but youll noticed on deer and boar since they run for a while. Rabbits the .0001 second(s) its out of the range of you, itll just go back to passive.
Just bring some light armor/hunting gear for the immersion. Itll help, but as I said the animal ai is really bad so its likely not going to make the biggest difference.
This is correct
First off, in the early game, with a lower Strength and lower Strength Bow, getting closer is certainly more desirable since the arrow droop can be extreme and it may take more than one arrow to take down that big Deer or Boar.
Thus, like most things in KCD, the early game is harder than the later game, and will require some extra care. Creating less noise, and being less obvious, should help you get closer
Second, as your Stealth Skill increases, you can get away with a lot more blundering, basically replacing the need for caring about the Noise of your attire (just like high Speech Skill overrides the importance of Charisma)
In general, arrows tend to fly further than most animal's detection range, even if you are in full, flashy heavy armor. Aiming and arrow droop are always the main problems.
This gets easier by being closer, which is improved with less noise (and later by Hunting Skill Perks), and by having stronger bows (which require higher Strength).
Once you have a bow that can drop a Boar in a single shot, the arrow is flying fairly straight with little droop, so far-ranged shots are much easier and thus Noise/Visibility matter less.
But in the early game, with low Skills and weak bow, Hunting can be a real enjoyable challenge. Stay quiet, take your time, and have fun.
Pretty sure you could. You just gotta go back to that merchant. I sold chicken in thalmburg before I escaped, and that rotting chicken was still in that guys inventory 90 hours later :^).
But it might depend on how many items you sold.
Go try, itll be a lot more expensive.
Prolly not worth it as theres going to be a better bow eventually.
But yes you can buy back, I just dont know the limits on how many items you have to sell, before some of your buy back options go bye bye.
Edit: found it at the blacksmith but it's from 40 hours before... is there any chance he's hiding it somewhere in his house? I can't pick every lock yet.
