Black Box On Screen

Hi chaps,

I've spent the last sixteen hours or so trying to solve this problem but to no avail.

Yesterday evening for some inexplicable reason a black box appeared in the bottom right of my screen. I've no recollection of touching anything or changing anything so why it appeared for the first time in my life is beyond me.

Anyway, this chap had the exact same problem and fixed it, his black box is in the upper left, mine in the lower right.

The thing is always on top and is even in game yet if I take a screenshot the black box doesn't appear in the picture.

The guy above says toggle through something in the taskbar but I've no idea what he really means. The position he mentions is for me "internet access" and I don't see anything in there.

I know there are a lot of computer savvy guys on here and I'm just hoping one of you can help me.

Try to pressing alt-tab to toggle to another application which is open and then alt-tab back again.

Thanks for the fast response, much appreciated.

This black box is ever prevalent, it's the last thing to go when I reboot and the first thing to appear. It's even taking up a large space as I respond to you.

It has no functionality and is always on top, it can't be moved and I can't even mouse over it without the mouse disappearing behind it.

Mate I'd love today to be like yesterday when I could just play a game, I've no idea how this thing appeared.

Would anyone know what icon the guy in the linked post on the last page is referring to?

I can't work it out and I'm at my wits end.

Maybe its Ansel? Hit Alt+F2. Try Windows Borderless and Fullscreen. Disable Fullscreen Optimization. Run as Admin.

Thanks Hondo but no the black box remains.

It's crazy, it doesn't appear to have a purpose, I've no idea how I introduced it, I don't seem to be able to disable it (yet it can be done as mentioned in the linked post) and as a final insult it doesn't appear in screenshots.

I'm staggered that anyone anywhere would give you the option of a black box that does nothing and is very difficult to remove if you accidentally enable it.

Hi, it looks like you have activated tablet mode on the bottom right of the screen click the notifications icon then click tablet mode it should put it back to normal.

I tried some config settings today and messed around with ini tweaks. I tried Msaa Antialasing and had black boxes all over the screen. Do you have Some Antialiasing set in your gpu driver?

Thanks Juanita and I'll bet you're close to right.

Now please forgive my ignorance, I'm 61 and not very computer literate.

When I click on notifications in the bottom right the screen comes up and I get "No new notifications" and in the top right "Manage Notifications".

When I look at "Tablet" it says "When I sign in" -"use appropriate mode...." and below that is "When I use this device" - "Don't switch to tablet"

No Hondo, I had a few beers with a couple of mates in my house last night, we got just the right amount of drunk, all had a good time, they left, I cooked and then I decided to play a game only to find this black box on my pc.

I spend most of my time at my desk with my pc and I think Juanita has it right that I've done something or changed something by accident when maybe I was slightly the wrong side of just the right amount of drunk.

i know its been a bit since you asked but I'm writing this for everyone else, but if you hit alt+z, click on the settings button, click on hud layout, and then click on camera. there should be a button saying off, so just click on that and they box should be gone
