can't save theresa?

i quitted playing for a long time and just came back now and started a new game, but it seems not possible to save theresa at the start anymore? the cumans just go ham on me so much quicker than they did back then.
back then i hit them once and ran to horse and would bolt away.
but now i hit and they all draw sword and beat the pulp outta me no matter how hard i try run away

I have 5 play throughs and yet I have never once attempted to save Theresa by attacking the rapey Cumans directly.

Try paying attention to the on-screen instructions as they appear and follow them. It works a treat.

A cutscene, somewhere, shows Henry swinging at the Cumans with the Sword to save Theresa, and then bolting for a horse

this is a pretty clear indication that the devs expected this to be possible, and the fact that you used to be able to do this is encouraging.

However, i do not know if this is still possible, it's definitely very risky now - as you say, the Cumans switch to full melee mode very quickly.

like most others, i go for the horse first - although, for RP reasons, i then slam the horse into the Cumans, although whistling, press <x>, is all it takes - and you still gotta be quick.

Stil definitely possible to bolt off on a horse, you just need to lead them around a bit

Oh sweetie, you're supposed to put your lips together and blow, that'll get the attention from those Cuman brutes.. You can also press X to whistle duckey.

Don't hit those Cumans, just whistle at them, then get on the horse with the green blanket.
After you get shot in the leg with an arrow, go in the horse inventory and transfer the saddle to your own inventory.

Why transfer the saddle whilst getting chased? What does that do?

also, unequipping the saddle from the horse greatly increases its speed. (exploit)

Hey guys , thanks for all the replies 😄 i ended up succeeding by just repeatedly trying and i did get the job done now by swinging my sword at them and running to the horse after but i had to be REALLY fast and lucky

Also i didnt lockpick that chest in talmberg with the plate arms armor in it, i wonder if it's still there

It will probably still be there. The thing is, by the time you get the chance to go back to Talmberg, the value of that armour will probably be less than the value of the armour you will probably be wearing when you go back there so it's not really particularly important.
